I have a pistol gripped SpeedFeed stock on my Mossberg 500. I see a lot of that style, usually matched up with an AR15 style stock as well.

Alot depends on how comfortable you are with reloads, just put a pistol grip on my shotgun because I couldn't reload weak handed.

I have a pistol grip on my Bennelli and have no problems. I have noticed that I am a little slow on picking it up from a table or a barrel, where a regular stock may have its advantages. Other than that it works well for me.

Is there some sort if advantage to using a pistol grip shotgun? If it ain't broke why fix it?

I prefer a PG stock as I find the wrist angle more natural. I am in the minority though.

I have not used one, but a few questions if you are considering one (and my answers, your answer may vary).
1. Is it easier/safer going in and out of dump barrels? (neutral) 2. Is it faster to shoot? (yes) 3. Is it faster to reload? (no) Let the timer decide. Also, I wonder if the top shooters using a PG have it to be consistent with their non-competition training? For instance, a pistol grip is helpful in weapon retention in close quarters, but most of us are not using a shotgun suitable for that. |

I think a pistol grip often times is more comfortable to people with smaller hands. The grip on a Remington for example stretches my hand too far and the angle is not comfortable. Plus it feels more like an AR. Personally, I love the pistol grip. Personal preference |

I thought most of the smiths where not recommending them because the increased twist you
put in the stock under recoil was binding up the recoil spring tubes. |

I tried switching out my SBE II with the pistol grip stock it came with. I hated it so much that the gun didn't make it out of the shop. I was thinking about using it for our local 3 gun shoots plus hunting. It felt uncomfortable and I also think that it would slow down some movements like earlier stated.

The Benelli PG stock has a shorter recoil spring so felt recoil is a little more. The PG stock is harder to load when using the pinwheels or other load 2 systems.

I have a pistol grip butt stock on my M2. I have had open heart surgery and the pistol grip helps me to deal with the recoil. After you have had your chest opened recoil becomes more of a problem. It hurts.
