2 thoughts come to mind (and I am no expert. I have just seen others setups). Take my 2 cents for what its worth.

-Are you planning on a VFG or AFG?

-4.5-14 seems like a lot of scope for 3 gun. How are you planning to hit closer targets?

Nice rifle though.

I have been leaving the optic on 4.5 and ripping up close targets with no problem.. I have a 1x4 also but haven't needed to sight it in yet.

+1 on the scope - magnification seems excessive for close-medium ranges.

A muzzle brake will help significantly. If this gun doubles as a SHTF rifle, look at the DynaComp or BattleComp as they offer significant compensation effect without being as blasty as a traditional muzzle brake.

Your rifle is very similar to my 16" midlength gas lightweight backup rifle (primary 3-gun rifle is an 18" rifle gas midweight):

Be careful when using X-long rifle handguards with short barrels. The blast from the comp can present a serious hazard if you grip the very end of the handguard like I do. Minimum length barrel I'll use with an XL handguard is 18" for this very reason.

Indeed. I have a short length of Picatinny rail on the left side to act as an index point/hand stop (doubles as a flashlight rail). Here is the left side of the same rifle:

Says who? I like it that way around much better - it is faster to deploy for me because the serrated pad falls right under my support hand thumb, and it gives me a slightly longer sight radius. Please tell me what problem having it this way around is going to cause.

I think you will like the 1-4 scope more because it will be faster up close. You need a comp.

Other than that its tight.

I can only imagine the pieces of flesh that would be hanging off your fingers if that were to happen.

A friend of mine did that with an SBR. No blood, but it got his attention.

How close are your close targets? 4.5 is way too much power up close. By close I mean 10 yards or less. Your optic needs to go for this sport. Get the 1-4 sighted in.

What Pat said. Also get as mentioned before, get a comp like a mickulek (sp) brake, then shoot the crap out of the gun.

ETA: Pat I'm still pissed I lost to you at the Ironman.

That was a fun match like aways. I had a great time.
Back to the topic missed that he did not have a brake. I really like the Titan brake.

Also I'm trying to pull the trigger on a comp soon
