I have heard conflicting things on if the BH rolling thunder comp is tactical division legal.  I shoot Tac optics and have no interest in shooting open class.  I have one on my rifle, but have yet to shoot any major matches with it yet.

I ask this because only up until a little while ago, the Brownells site even said it was and open class comp.

http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/barrel-parts/compensators/ar-15-m16-ar-style-308-benny-hill-rolling-thunder-compensator-prod26977.aspx

I checked now and they took that part off.  I know the general rule is no more than 3" long and 1" diameter, but i could see someone saying since the comp is 3.5" overall and not measure from the muzzle, I would get thrown into open.  Anyone have any problems with this?

It's measured from the muzzle.  You start incorrectly measuring by OAL and most everyone is going to get thrown into open.  I've been using the Rolling Thunder in Tac Optics for years.

Sounds good.  As I said, i have not taken this rifle to a major match and it was something in the back of my head.

I'll shoot it and not worry about it.  Thanks!
