THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I have retinal detachment on both eyes (thanks mom) BUT fortunately, IF I do tear them, they tear at the bottom so that gravity pulls down on them and (with luck) they heal.

30 years ago, I was told to avoid any contact sports ESPECIALLY weapons with a lot of recoil so I sold my Winchester 101 trap shopgun, all my reloading equipment, and all the ammo inventory! To say the least, I cried the day it sold.

Now for the good news.

I then got my pistol permit and bought a Para Ord P14 which I souped up and then shot IPSC with. That lasted till our club's IPSC course designer started putting up courses of fire that had a very high potential for shooters breaking the 180. I tried to reason with him but he would NOT relent. That was around 1996 at which point I quit shooting pistol matches because I didn't want to be witness to a member getting shot by a competitor due to a dangerous course of fire.

Fast forward to this year. I'm now retired and have some time on my hands. I've started shooting IDPA shoots and really like it for many reasons. Mainly becaue the people setting up the courses at our club and neighboring clubs design courses of fire where you almost always are moving forward or diagonaly down range.

I also bought a S&W M&PAR15 carbine in .223 Rem which I ABSOLUTELY love and built an AR-15 .223 Rem rifle with a 20" Model 1 Sales bull barrel and race gunparts.

What I do not have in order to shoot a three gun shoot is a shotgun. Back to the retinal detachment, I cannot safely shoot anything bigger than a 20 gauge. TRUST ME, I've gambled ONCE after I found out about the retinal detachment, and that was one time too many!

Anyway, the shotgun that caught my eye is the new Mossberg SA-20 Tactical Shotgun. Semi automatic, 5 + 1 shells, 20" barrel, synthetic stock with or without a pistol grip.

Have any of you got an opinion (good or bad) with a Mossberg SA-20?

Any and all opinions will be appreciated.

In most rules, 20 gauge is good to go. The round count is going to hurt you but hopefully someone makes an extension for it. It looks VERY close to a 930 so those extensions may work. Thanks for finding that. I might pick one up so my son can shoot with me in a couple years when he gets big enough.

Whatever you do, do not put a comp on your AR. I RO'ed a match yesterday and thought I was going to lose some fillings from some of those guy's comps. Some of them are ridiculous the amount of back pressure they have.

I am glad to see you don't let your eye issues keep you down. Good luck.
