My second 3 gun match. first time using a crappy $20 hatcam.
Shotgun only: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PcyKC6lQgBU Rifle only: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1Neg31VsY8 Shotgun and pistol. one shell on each barrel, target past the barrel. move and load and shoot. i had a misfire and racked the shell out without thinking. so i had to pick it up and load again but i fired too early cause i was flustered. went right over the top of the target. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SZNEPS4ZYJA Shotgun, pistol, rifle. Another flubbed shotgun stage. 4 steel targets, 1 paper target for 2 slugs. we could load the guns however we wanted. i loaded 2 slugs followed by 4 birdshots thinking, i wont miss a steel....well i did. so i just ditched the shotgun, and left two targets: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RZ-GSpaSwn0 still finished 2nd out of 15 or so overall. looking at these videos i have decied a few things. i need to slow down and get my shots and not thing hurry hurry hurry. i need to work on AR double taps. i just put a comp on there so i dont trust it to still be on target after the first shot yet. |

Different kind of match. Time plus scoring, 3 worst shots on paper counts. No equipment divisions. First time shooting it, and there seemed to be some confusion between the shooters on rules. Like if it hits the lines does it count higher or lower, and the penalties for a no shoot, non A hits ect. Still a fun match, but being able to read some rules would have really improved the experience. Since there was only 16 shooters I didn't mind not having equipment divisions. |

Shot an Eotech for the first time yesterday. We only shot out to 75 on full size paper donut wasn't a true test of my 1X abilities but I had a blast hosing down the close stuff with that thing. |

Shooting ACTS (Multigun)
It was a fun going away match for a long time shooter so we were encouraged to bring out "different" guns if we had them. I used a Winchester Model 94 30/30 and a Ruger Single Action Black Hawk in .45 Long Colt that shoots 2"s to the right at 10'... I came in 4th in weird class being more 'weird overall' then most I would say'
*Oh, and I had just done 675 pushups, 325 squats and sprinted 625 yards 2 days prior, I was pretty sore still Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Stage 4 |

Yup $25 for a local match if your not a member of the range $20 if your a member. Oh and I forgot to put the camera on for the first stage, so you missed on a shotgun spinner/texas star, and a 3 position 4 target 100-400 yard bay.
What sucks is people complain the day is too long and they get hungry. I pack a lunch, unless it is your first match here in Vegas you should know it will take until 4pm to finish. But that is not all the MD fault as we always end up with one squad who don't know how to move. Can't seem to be ready to shoot when it is their turn, don't/slowly reset stages, airgun for minutes after the make ready command, spend 10-15 min on walk throughs. Since I am the youngest shooter other than the MD's son who designed the pirate themed stage, I have a hard time busting peoples balls to quit walk through at 5 min or any of the other stuff. I don't want to be a nazi about that stuff, especially since I have no real authority and don't want to scare new shooters off. But on the other hand every match has several people quit halfway through. I think some is equipment issues, some probably just don't like standing around all day for 6 minutes of shooting. MD has said he will be toning it down, as too many people complain. Its a shame as I love the value I get from a full day on the range. Sorry for the rant, now back to your regularly scheduled videos. |

Drills and Skills at DSRPC
Since the MD will be out shooting superstition mountain 3 gun on the normal 4th Sunday match we had a shorter drills/practice type match this weekend. I didn't tape the mid range drills off the ramp and tower, nor did I get the last hoser rifle stage. I did pretty bad on the loading drill. Everything goes good at home, but come match I rush and drop shells. And you will see on my third string I can't even seem to remember how to shoot a simple 6 target COF. We will probably be doing more matches like this as we get into the summer months so if anyone has any good drills please pass them along. |

If you want some shotgun stuff to practice take a look at my Pan American, High Plains, and Tactical Shotgun match videos. Lots of fast 7-10 round stages that test your loading and position shooting skills. |

Another 1st place in Iron sight division (Service in ACTS)
Stage one here was a TON of sprinting, my legs started to give out!!! I did make 12 hits and that tied an 18 year old kid... most people had 10 or less with a few in the 11's. I do want to add that this was my second go. The first one got interrupted when the tires on the far left barricade had fallen before the start of the stage. Had I not expended that energy I really think I could have got 13 based on that. Had I not had a few misses I think I might have. Stage two Had trouble with the dust kicking up (and forgetting the CoF) but other wise not bad. Stage three Lots of running again. Not bad but my pistol shooting wasn't great... even had a straight up miss!!! Stage 4 Pushing and playing in the dirt. |

Side note, we were unable to get footage of every stage due to losing one of the members and having the other shooters going back to back in shooting order, so here is what we did manage to get. |

Tarheel 3 Gun this past weekend.
Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 Stage 4 Stage 5 - You'll notice I screwed up pretty bad on this one. I got fixated on a 200m target and ended up losing ALL the rifle targets: 9 targets @15 seconds each. Stage 6 - Ran out of time on this one too. The Texas Star was giving me fits, as was my ridiculously substandard shotgun reload system.
Thanks for watching! |
