THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT I'm looking forward to starting 3 Gun competitions but I need some more information. (What I can and can't use on the weapons in Tactical Optics Division, how much ammunition is usually shot during a match, equipment recommendations, small matches in or near PA, etc...) What can you guys tell me?? |

Depending where you're at, the York IWLA in York, PA likes multi-gun & so does the Topton Fish & Game club up in Topton, PA. There's also a club near Lebanon (Heidelberg Sportsmans) that holds monthly multi-guns. Round count really varies from match to match and depends on the match layout & where it's at. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 75 - 100 rounds pistol, 50 - 100 rounds rifle, & 50 - 75 rounds shotgun is what you can probably expect, but like I said it can vary a lot.
For Tac Ops division: Pistol: Iron sights, no round restrictions in magazines, just keep magazine length 140mm or less. Shotgun: Iron sights, tube fed, ideally you want a magazine tube to hold 8 or 9 rounds. Rifle: AR style 223 or 5.56 is by far the most common, (1) optic only. Gear: It's probably easier to tell us what you have and we'll tell you what you're missing. The biggest must have is a pistol holster that will secure your sidearm while running, moving around obstacles, & changing positions with your other 2 guns. Aside from that you need enough shot shell caddies or the load 2 style belt to carry at least 20 rounds of shot shells, 1 or 2 AR mag holders, & at least 2 pistol mag holders. Some matches use rifle & shotgun slings, some don't but its a good idea to have them and know how to work with them. |

Anything you know of up in the Northeast region of PA? I do plan on traveling to matches further away in the future, but I'm looking for something close by so I can get my feet wet. By 140mm magazine length, is that 140mm total magazine length? or 140mm from the base of the magwell, (probably a dumb question but I just want to make sure.) And that's why I'm wondering what you'd recommend as far as equipment goes so I know what I do/don't need and what does/doesn't work so I don't spend unnecessary amounts of money on equipment that isn't necessary. |
