M&P9c using 124gr HST did the job from about 35-40 yards. Of course I didn't go look for her until the next day and found her floating in a tank, had to wade in and get her.

I had a similar experience.

147 HST out of a Glock 19 did a surprise pig in real quick. It made it about 10 feet after the double tap and fell right over. Both shots were right at the edge of the front shoulder as it slightly quartered away. I was impressed.

I've tried using a J-frame and 110gr hydra shoks but haven't really had any shot opportunities yet besides one big boar that I shot as I drove past on my way to the swimming hole, so I didn't go look for it. I think it can be done.

So this is your new thread of pistol Pigs?

My first ever pig was with a 1911 45 with Hydrashocks 185 I believe.  I was bowhunting deer and had seen a couple on camera so took my CCW 1911 with me.  Three came in, and I popped the first one broadside at 40 yards.  It dropped and I swung to the next in line and was squeezing and saw #1 get back up.  I went 5 outta 7 on that pig with the last one catching the spine.  About 120 lbs.  It was that point when I figured out how freaking tough they are.

A smidge under 45 yds., offhand shot. .44 Special 252 gr. cast SWCHP @ a little under 1000 fps.

Not really a hog, but...

45 yds. sitting in a brush blind. 45 Colt, 263 gr. cast SWCHP @ around 1025 fps.

Handgunning is a rush.

Yep. Mr. Gibbs and I have had our differences in the past but I have a lot of respect for those who hunt with nice iron. He has some nice single actions! I need another 44 special.

And a humble thanks to you. I enjoy your photos and amazed with your constant contact with all manner of wildlife. The shot with the semi pistol was quite a feat.

Now, "another" .44 Special? Elaborate, please.

I had a 3' Mod.29 with unfluted cylinder for a number of years that I pretty much shot nothing but specials through. I even carried it sometimes. I traded it back to the guy I bought it from because I lost interest in having such a short barrel. I would like to get a nice SA someday.

I have 4 SA .44 Specials. The one pictured with the sow is my constant companion. One of the others is a 5 1/2" Ruger Flat Top Blackhawk. It is a super accurate revolver capable of handing loads that are equal to .44 Magnum loads as offered by the Big 3 ammo folks. But I prefer the little 4 3/4" Uberti because it is equally accurate, lighter and of course has the rugged fool proof fixed sights.

Hope you find one you like some day.

A standard 44 special load is nothing to sneeze at but as long as you are not shooting it out of some old questionable pistol a reload with a bit more poop is quite desireable.

No need to go nuts but the standard 44sp load is what 240-250 gr bullet with 700fps or so out of a 6 or 7 barrel. Don't go all Elmer Kieth but if you boost it up to 950 or 1000 fps and use some type of flat point instead of a round nosed cowboy bullet it starts to be a pretty good killer

I'm super jealous of your target rich environment down there. Seems like a lot of fun.

I have shot several(4) pigs with a pistol, it's the best!! The frst time I stood on top of the feeder with my G-20, the last 2 times were with my G-29 standing(covered in diesel)against a fence with corn rows in a sendero pointing towards me. Shots from 3 feet to 15 I wish I lived near pigs again
