Are you using a laser on that rifle, or just a thermal. Looks like a PVS-14 mount on the helmet. I'm getting a similar setup, just curious what you're using.

In the last pic I am running a night optics d-750 on a 5.56 gun with a yhm phantom lt suppressor. I do have a pvs 14 on my helmet that is used for walking and spotting. I use it with an aimpoint on my 6.8. On Thu night there was 1% moon. I like using my 6.8 more but under low light conditions its a lot harder to see. The d-750 is basically a nice d-740 and looking back I should have just saved some money by buying the 740. They are great scopes and I am really pleased. I don't own a thermal . I have friends that do. The it hunter mk2 is pretty nice. I want one but am waiting. The mk3's and reapr are out. I look at thermals like computers. As soon as you buy one they are outdated within the year. That being said I'm still gonna buy one. as far as using an ir laser I don't like it. I had a hard timefiguring out how to lead the pigs. I'm sure its because I didn't spend enough time trying. Some guys love themif you are looking at just buying one device I would definitely recommend the d-740

Jealous. I have gone with a friend a couple times, but never shot anything. One night we heard them coming down the creek, but they went into the neighbors land. We don't have NV or Thermal equipment. I picked up a feeder light, but we haven't set that up yet. He has kids and his family hunting land is 30 mins away, so it turns into a rare event to go sit in the blind. I have an open invite to hunt at my father in laws land, but his place is over 2 hrs drive away. Nobody hunts his land (his health is fading) and there's no feeder out there. They say they see pigs in the area all the time. It's mostly heavily wooded from what I've seen of it. We never stay the night out there cause we have dogs at home and don't leave them for more than about 10 hours. Boarding is too expensive for something like that. Nobody in my family has land, and most of them live in Okla anyway. Think I'll end up doing a paid hunt out here some day just to get my feet wet. Some day I might actually use one of these guns for something other than paper killing

Hey Mike, good to see you're still killing the hogs.
If anyone is in the area, shoot him a message, Mike took me and a buddy out a while back and we had a great time. |

Hey thanks rugger. Had a good time with you guys. Harvest season is almost here. If you are in the Victoria area and want to hunt all night hit me up for pricing and details. I garauntee a shot at a hog or come back again for free. I do not provide lodging and highly recommend getting a hotel. You do not want to drive after hunting all night.

[#16]
Are you seeing lots of movement even with the heavy rains we have been getting in the Texas Gulf coast region? Is it making the hunts harder?
Thanks for the videos and pics. |

[#18]
hey mike, I'm not in texas but if i got there is it possible i could tag along for a coupla hogs for me to bring home n fill the freezer?
|
|
[#20]
oh... definitely hunt. what kind of tag or permit would i need?
|
|
[#21]
All you need is a hunting licence. I think they have a daily licence available for non residents. To hunt with night vision with us is $250 per person per night. No lodging included and I highly recommend getting a hotel.

[#22]
yeah, i kinda figured on a hotel. couldn't or wouldn't expect anyone to put up an out of town stranger. as for the might vision is that a rental price or standard fee charged? with any luck and i get at least one are you able to point me in the correct direction to pick up some dry ice for the trip home?
|
|
[#23]
That includes night vision. We have dry ice available at local grocery stores but I would recommend just putting it on ice allowing the meat to bleed out. Pm me for more questions or info.

That looks like a whole lot of fun :) Good work and thanks for sharing!

Good to see you posting again. Great raw footage of your hunts. Looks like there are a lot of big hogs around the Victoria farm areas.
Good luck |

Mike, what keeps them on the property so well? The fields of food? Are you game fenced?

View Quote Nice blastin! GREAT to see regular NV killing lots of hogs. Standard I^2 STILL rules for Positive ID and can still rack up the kills! |

Had a good night 2 nights ago. Big thanks to Hog Rush and Bio Tactical. I will be doing some reviews soon on two of the Hog Rush suppressors. We ended up with 10 in the truck <a href="http://s137.photobucket.com/user/mikestrane/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20160906_015552.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q239/mikestrane/Mobile%20Uploads/20160906_015552.jpg</a> <a href="http://s137.photobucket.com/user/mikestrane/media/Mobile%20Uploads/20160906_015454.jpg.html" target="_blank">http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q239/mikestrane/Mobile%20Uploads/20160906_015454.jpg</a> View Quote Rack em and stack em! |

Only 2 small piglets in the first group and 2 70lb pigs in the second got away.

Yes there is an audible difference between the 3 cans. It is hard to really tell as the mic is over driven. Too bad you don't have an spl comparison. That is the best way to tell.
I am really interested in how that hollow sun holds up to the 458socom. Need one for my pistol/sbr. |
|
[#46]
After reading online. The only decible reader than can accurately meter gun shots is only $30k. Lol. So camera mic will do lol.
|
|
[#47]
Yea, i found the same. Most dB meters only go to 150. They need to hit 170 at least. Hog Rush should have spl data. I know yhm does.
|
|
[#48]
Well Hog Rush is a smaller company. I don't think he has that kind of money yet to do the testing. I wonder if my buddies car audio shop has one. They do dB contests. Hmmmm

Mike............you have been awful quiet. Last post was a month ago. Are you still hunting or staying out of the night hunts so as not to disturb the deer and regular hunting season hunters?
