I have an AR that I built in 7.62x39 and have been shooting it with magpul flip up sights and no optic.  I want to take it on a hog hunt and I'm debating about putting on an optic for better low light hunting.  I don't think it will be for very long distance shots.  I have a green LED kill light to hang under a feeder that we will rig up.  What is a decent, fairly cheap optic that will work good for short distance hunting?  I don't want to spend a lot of money on an optic for this gun.  I have other rifles with scopes, but they are for longer distance shooting.  My hog hunting area is pretty wooded and won't have long shots

Thanks guys

Red Dot: Lucid HD7

Scope: Burris MTAC 1-4

Budget red dot: Bushnell TRS-25

1-4x: Burris Tac-30, Burris M-TAC, Vortex Viper

1.x-6x: Burris M-TAC, Vortex Strike Eagle, Primary Arms

I have the TRS-25, Burris Tac-30 and M-TAC 1.5-6x.  My primary hog gun has the M-TAC 1.5-6x.  I've looked through the Primary Arms 1-6x and it seems pretty good, better than their older 1-4x.

Any of the above choices would be good. But I would look at a cheaper Gen 1 or 2+ nightscope for that caliber and plan on adding a suppressor at a later time.

I havent heard much bad about the holosun sights. Was actually thinking about giving one a try.

Primary Arms 1-6x   works for me.  Great optic for the price and
works well with a clip-on NVD in front if you decide to go that route.

I would skip holosun.  Look at primary arms for decent quality budget red dots and optics.

Primary Arms 1-4 is roughly $125.  If you can spend $270, the 1-6 ACSS is a HUGE step up, but the 1-4 is great for the money, and good for everything except glassing at 300+ yards.

I'm not a big fan of the 1-4 from Primary Arms. The eye box is too small. I much prefer the Burris Tac-30.

I also prefer the Tac 30, but at 3x the price I wouldn't consider it "budget".  You could get a PA 1-6 for less money, and it's more scope.

I see Primary shows a New 4x Compact Prism Scope that is for 7.62x39/300BO.  It's not super cheap at around $260, but it sounds interesting.  4X would be plenty for the shorter distance I plan to hunt with this gun.  I'll have to read up on this one

Natchez has the Bushnell Elite Tactical 1-6.5 for $500. Thats less than half the normal price. I'm debating dumping my MTAC and Tac30 for them.

I really like my Vortex Crossfire II 3-12x56 hog hunter. It lets in allot of light and the 12x helps me with a little longer shots. I don''t have NV or Thermal yet so it may not work that great with a clip on because of the AO.
