I carried Ithica, Remington and other 12 gauge pump shotguns in police cars for over 35 years and 1 oz Foster slugs might be old school but they do work. With cylinder bore pump shotgun barrels with bead sight a 12 gauge with lead Foster slugs can be counted on to hit at least to 50 yards. When I had my own assigned 12 gauge and police car I could make hits easily out to 100 yards or more with most any brand of 1 oz Foster slug.
It is just hard to beat the versatility of a 12 gauge but when dealing with two legged bad guys I'd prefer my Tavor or 16" AR-15. You can bet my Sage Remington 1100 would be close at hand if I had time to bring it along to.
Thanks for posting, good to see you put your shotgun to good use. Good looking hog and ought to make some very tasty meals. I sure wouldn't hesitate taking a hog with a 12 gauge 1 oz slug.
