Went to my buddies deer lease and after dinner I decided to scan the fields with the NV. Well, around 400 yards out there was a black spot in a plowed field. We went to check it out, didn't know if it was a deer or a hog. Got about 70 yards out and yup! Here we go,,,, snuck up another 30 yards. He had his head buried in a hole rootin the hell out of this field. I gave him one in the lungs, he squealed and took off. Hit him 4 more times before he hit the woods, and only missed once. Oh and had to clear a jam in the middle of all that. He made it about 49 yards into the woods before he was done. the round I used. Was 300 blackout  barnes tsx. I shot him close to san Angelo. I wish I had a scale, I wouldve liked to know his weight.

Glad you got him.  Next time skip the lung shot and put one behind the ear.  Less money wasted in bullets, and no tracking job.

I'm guessing he is over 400lbs easy.

Good job.....nice hog.  Plenty of good eating and the  land owner will surely appreciate getting rid of it.
