THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
Took out the new SBR's last night and put the hammer down on a good sized boar about 180-200lbs. Busted it at 40 yards with a subsonic 208gr A-Max. It was quartering towards and the shot hit it forward of the front shoulder just missing the spine but it got both lungs before the bullet exited the opposite side. It made it about 40 yards before it piled up.

Nice pig!

Any evidence that the bullit yawed or deformed at all? Even if it had a canilure I don't expect it would break up but some upset would be nice.

Honestly, we didn't even really investigate. We went out, stalked up, made a good shot and the hog dropped like normal. That's all we were really concerned about was dropping a big one without going CNS. We were plenty happy with the results.

Your back must be doing better?
I've tried to see things from the liberal point of view ... but I'm just not flexible enough to get my head up my ass.

It's doing better but I still can't bend, twist or lift anything over 10lbs or so. Luckily that doesn't preclude me from being able to stand up in a jeep spotting for hogs or shooting a rifle or running a camera.

It isn't really the pain that stops me from doing anything at this point, it's the restrictions. I can bend just fine as long as I support my weight with my arms, otherwise all of that stress goes to my lower back and until the bone grows over the implant and stabilizes it there's the possibility that I could rip the bolts that hold my back together out of the bone.

Must be nice to shoot enough that droping them is mundane!
We have very few in north Ga. Seems to be a piedmont/coastal plain thing as S Ga, NC and SC are ate up with them.

Good luck with the back situation. It's always fun to read your exploits.

Yeah, best of luck with the back situation, been there and done that, best advice is to always think before you move now...but if you think back pain is a beech, just wait until you start passing kidney stones.....ain't growin' old just grand???

I also enjoy reading your hogging exploits too, so be sure to get back in shape and get out there and have some good fun.

We F1'd the rifles about 3.5 weeks before the suppressors came in. They should be in within the next couple of weeks.

Did you really think I wouldn't get suppressors for 'em?

Naw, just .223 suppressors.

You might not believe it but the 300blk is currently the only .30 cal rifle I've got. I pretty much cleaned the safe out of stuff that I didn't use a few years ago and since I never used anything bigger than a 220-Swift I got rid of everything else. David kept his .308 but he never got a suppressor for it.

I probably wouldn't have bought into the 300blk except that it suppresses so well so we'll be able to pick off more hogs with it.

We got some bad ammo that wasn't chambering properly but didn't find out we had a bad batch until we were out on this hog. We were upwind of it with it blowing hard enough that I was able to chamber another round while we were 40 yards from this hog without him hearing it. I firmly believe that we could have shot it with the suppressor and any other hogs that would have been around wouldn't have heard a thing. That's a huge advantage when you're out doing the type of night stalking that we do.

Stop picking up hogs and throwing them over the fence!

I know you're a pretty big boy (me too) but we aren't getting any younger. Hope you make a full recovery soon, keep after 'em!

Thanks. Actually when that picture was taken by back was already screwed up beyond repair. It's all from a life of being rough on it and everybody always calling, "Come help me move this! Come help me move that!". My parents both had the same problem so that probably didn't help much either.

Anyway, here's that picture from happy times not long ago when I had a little bit more range of movement in my back than I'll ever have again.

This was down in San Antonio at a friend's place and I'm actually headed back down there tomorrow morning. Hopefully we'll get some more hogs and more good video and pictures.

Nice. Do you think the 208 AMAX will perform as it should ( expansion - wise) suppressed? What barrel (length and twist ) are you using?
I have a BHW on order thats 8.5 in and 8.5 twist. Gonna thread it to fit my 45 suppressor on it.

There shouldn't be any difference in bullet expansion between suppressed and unsuppressed. That said, from what I've seen the AMAX isn't getting a lot of expansion but it's getting a lot of tumbling. We'll probably end up reloading for them and I've been looking at possibly using the 220gr lead tip spitzers or maybe some of the other bullets designed to expand at subsonic speeds.

We're using 9" barrels with a 1 in 8 twist. They're factory AAC uppers.
