Independence day hog! First kill with my LR-308 that I have been working on for years. Finally got it out in the field the same time the hogs were out. First kill on our new ranch as well, so good times. Got this one while walking out to the feeder area and he beat us there, so I found a tree for a rest and put him down. No other activity all weekend, but we are moving around the place often since we just got on it in May. Small ranch, 300 acres so our movement was definitely noticed as we work on setting up feeder and blind locations.

Fed Fusion factory 165's until I load up a batch of my own. Been having trouble finding a load I like, so I have not done a large batch for hunting. Need to do that now.

Good job! It’s a great feeling to get to use a hunting rifle for what you intended.

Most recent pig from a few weeks ago, along with a chonker I missed by 30 minutes last night. Maybe I'll get him tonight.

Yep. Here he is at another feeder.

What's really sad about this photo is I chose to go to a different stand yesterday morning while he was at this one. Had I gone here I would have got him. I've been chasing him for over a year

Finally got the spotted hog I thought was a Bar pig. Turns out it was a big sow. She's outsmarted me for almost two years. But we got her routine finally figured out and the dogs bayed her before she could slip out. We turned one set on her then took the other two around by the county road and let them out. And they caught her bay a pond before she could get off the property. One pig left. A little black boar.

Not a 9 lb. AR with a can, a 40X scope, and a 20 round mag, but it did the trick.  Savage Axis II XP in .223 with a 2-7X Leupold and a handloaded 65 gr. Sierra SP. One shot at 175-180 yds.

Good shooting bud. I've been using bolt actions more lately just to mix things up.

was supposed to be hunting this weekend but wussed out because of the weather.

Thanks. I really wasn't hunting, but was headed to the tank to break ice for the cows. So, I guess you could say it was a target of opportunity and since the rifle sits in the laundry room gun rack in case of coyotes, stray dogs, hogs, deer, etc. around the house,  it was taken by my rifle of opportunity.

Everyone seems to be making a whole new thread for a couple hog pics. I'll keep this thread alive with my weekend hunting success pics here.
2 hogs down, 300BLK shooting hand loaded 110 VMax's with H110 ~19.5 grains. 10.5" barrel and SiCo Omega.

Good size boar with nice cutters. Neck shot at 40-50 yds dropped him on the spot. I'm not good at estimating size, but this one may have been 130-150 lbs range.

Smaller pig, maybe 60-70 lbs. Shot broke a little low and right, which put it right in the heart area, shooting standing with some shooting sticks.
VMax bullet hit the shoulder and exploded. Found only a fraction of the base and jacket on the off side hide, it shed a lot of weight when it hit bone.
This one is going in the freezer.

Edit- always impresses me, left this hog lying there and went back today just a few days later. Literally could find two or three bones right there, no sign of the rest of him. Coyotes, buzzards, etc don’t let them go to waste…

Wife got me a hog hunt for fathers day. Never hunted hogs before. She was really worried about the storms we had in Texas ruining everything. I didn't figure it would play too much of a role.

Got lucky and nobody at the ranch wanted to hunt in the rain...twats.

Put my poncho on and set to hunting. Had the run of the whole place.

Started at 820 and finished at about 1045. Had to drag the second one a few hundred yards for pick up. Picking up the meat from the processor on Wednesday. Can't way.

Ranch owner told me I could hang out in a stand or stalk the whole place. So I just started stalking through the southern portion of the place.

The first one I shot, with the bulging eyeball... he walked out from behind a 4-5 foot long long that was maybe 8-9 inches wide. After that gunshot, it was like watching clowns get out of a clown car. So many hogs popped up from behind that log and took off.

This one showed up early one morning a couple of weeks ago under our "viewing" feeder about 110 yds. north of the house. I keep the SKS in the laundry room gun rack for just such occasions.

My scale only goes to 200 lbs. so I didn't bother weighing him, but I'm guessing 250-275 lbs.
