with apologies to FredMan and his wicked assed scattergun, I felt we should have post for everyone to post up their Turkey kills and not take away from his birds and pics.

here is the boy with our 2 Turkeys from this season. mine is a Merriam-Rio Cross and his is a Rio. bother were basically twins in body, beard and spurs. 22lbs or so, 10 inch beard and 1.25 in spurs.
I used a Beretta, he used a 11-87- both with Carlson Turkey Chokes, using Winchester #5 High Velocity  Double X loads. Both birds were shot about 35-40 yards. we were lucky enough to get out to SW OK before a major front came in.

we hunted these 2 from about 11 AM till 1:30 in the afternoon, we never could get them away from some hens. they always held up about 100-150 yards away. we finally decided to stalk them. I would purr and soft cluck occasionally and we were able to stalk in the oak patches till we got into range. it was a great hunt.

Some more Oklahoma birds, Woodward, OK. I got a 17 lb 11oz  5 1/2 beard about 8:30 on the 10th. Walked back 1 1/4 mile to the truck then went to my wife's setup about 10:30.She had not seen or heard anything and want me to take a short nap so she could take on latter. Around 11:30 she woke me and said she had 2 toms responding to her calls an moving in on her her decoy. Before I could get my head up she shot the bigger of the 2 toms (19lb 12oz 9" beard.)

Here's bird #1 for me. One more to go!!

My first flintlock bird!!  I've killed 12-15 with a caplock 12 ga double, but this was a BLAST!!!  Shot was 12 yds. Smoothbore 20ga, cylinder bore. 60 gr of 2F black under 70 gr by volume of #5's to the face!!!

Turns out, he may very well be the Mo. State Record for NWTF!!!  Entry sent in today.

I should have had a second, slightly bigger bird but he was wearing kevlar.

Called one in, had him at 42 yards, pulled the trigger... bird dropped like a rock, feathers flew. I pumped a fist, started gathering my stuff, turned around to see the damn thing flying off.

I am pretty sure I saw him 2 weeks later. He will be my target next year.

LOL, smart bird had lots of dove do that, laying dead by the waters edge for 20 min, then walk down to them and reach to grab them up and away just like nothing happened
