This didn't really go over well in the DIY forum, and I forgot that we had hunting forums here.  Anyone else carve?  I just finished my first block, and am painting my second.  These are going to get used, and I am learning to carve and paint at the same time, so I got my first one to gunner status and left it simple.

The one in the background was lost to the learning process, it was the first one I carved and the body was good, but the head wasn't quite right.  The one closest to the camera is the first one that made it to paint, and is finished.

I had full intentions of finishing it, but the restle coat on the first one was way too coarse.  Painting it would have been a nightmare.  Here is the Bufflehead.  Literally just finished it about 5 minutes ago.
