I love 28GA, once you get a good one, you aren't going back.
Longer barrel is better IMO esp on a lightweight gun like a 28ga light guns are great to carry adn quick to start, but also quick to stop stopping is bad on shotguns. get a well balanced barrel forward gun (usually meaning longer barrels) and you'll be amazed what you can hit. I shoot a 28ga SxS with 29" barrels. it fits me like a glove. |

Largely depends on what you want to do with it. For quail, grouse, or woodcock - 26 inch minimum. For dove, sporting clays, skeet, go with a 28 inch barrel. Try to get something with interchangeable chokes if you can. I shoot a 28 gauge side by side with 28 inch barrels - shoot mostly clays and quail with it. 28's are fun guns to shoot...go ahead and get a reloader to save money.
