Well I guess I will post this here.... I live and work on my father in laws farm so I have lots of ground to play on.  As luck would have it we have LOTS of Turkeys.   I got off work the other day and the wife decided for me that I should go out and get one of them thar turkeys.

We were in the house and was watching the flock of birds do its thing.  I really wasn't motivated until she said to try and get one...  I love my wife BTW.  So I grabbed the trusty old 870.. checked the choke and grabbed the turkey loads.  Grabbed the GO PRO and my new OPS-Cor Fast Sport helmet did a quick equipment check and off I went into the woods to see if I could stalk me a bird.

Below is a video of my stalk.  Its a little long and not terribly exciting but it has a happy ending....

If you don't want to watch the whole thing just skip to the end....

I got a little late season turkey hunting in this weekend.

Called this guy in for about 30 minutes then tagged him, hell of a rush.  My first turkey hunt with my new SBEII and I must say, a 3 1/2" 5 shot with full choke does the trick pretty well.

Just a mid sized jake but I'm pretty pleased

Wasn't actually hunting, but Maddie did a beautiful point on a rooster on our walk last night.  We're both looking forward to September!

Since I can't figure out how to embed video, I'll hot link some of my last outing on Sunday.  The POV shots were from my gopro.

Fastest hunt I've ever had. I set my decoys out, walked back and sat down and saw a group heading right to them. Bang, bang done. 2 bird limit here in Michigan. Less than 1 minute hunt

I've shot a few Merriam birds and these Goulds easily when standing are 3x the height. Really awesome birds. Hunting for Goulds is very limited. I was very lucky on the draw

If your season is anything like it has been here your screwed, we're just seeing the first parts of serious migration up here. The warm weather still had most of the birds in Canada a week ago, and 6 weeks into the season we're still shooting local birds

Brosef, you need to head downstate where I am and do some serious duck hunting, I've been out in the boat every weekend since early goose started.

Don't forget that after duck closes the goose bag jumps back up to 5 a day

I hate to rain on your parade but the migration has already reached us here in central La.
We've been seeing birds in the thousands for about 2 weeks.
Opening day was today and we killed 24 in my blind, total for the farm was 186(9 blinds).
