I grew up reading Gerry's articles on calling predators in the T&PC magazine. There wasn't much info for predator callers in the 80's and most folks thought you were weird if you even mentioned it. Gerry's articles really helped me.
He had an awesome sense of humor and his articles were entertaining. I always cracked up when he talked about his 10 gauge named " Moosedick".

OBIT:
Gerald C. Blair (Gerry) died Sunday, September 18, 2016 at his home in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He is survived by his second wife Beverly, his son Gerald C. Blair, Jr., grandchildren - Stephanie, Sean, Geoffry and three great-grandchildren.

Gerry's principal occupation was in law enforcement. He was an officer with the Phoenix Police Department, then the Arizona Highway Patrol where he rose to the position of Zone Commander of Northern Arizona headquartered in Flagstaff where he built the family home.

Gerry was experienced in trapping, hunting, and photography - devoting many years of his life those pursuits. He won national acclaim for his skill and knowledge and wrote many books and magazine articles on these and other related subjects.

Gerry was also an enthusiastic gem and mineral collector and made his own beautiful jewelry. He visited most of the mineral sources in Arizona, a few in Mexico, and was the author of the book "Rockhounding Arizona."

I read T&PC magazine in the early '80s while away at college, when I couldn't be in the woods.

I am sure I have read his work, and it saddens me that he is gone.  RIP

The FIRST thing that came to mind when I saw the name was the old 10 gauge, "Moosedick".
