Why not keep them trapped and find someone who does want their hides? May be a way to make some extra scratch.

I take em about 50 yards into the woods and put them on a stump. If I get another, i go back to the same stump.
They are gone within a week. Don't put them in the creek... |

If you have 25 acres, it's a bit hard for me to figure out why you can't find a place to just pile them up.

just was worried about smell and my german shepherd getting in to them. i tossed the 1st one in creek and tossed the rest in a wash out I have, I have never trapped before so I knew I could come here for some good info. thanks.

If I have to kill trapped animals I usually put them out in an open area and the Buzzards are on them before the day is out and they are gone in a day or two.
I keep my dogs fenced so I don't have to worry about them getting them. If I have time I take them to some property that is far enough away and let them go. |

I had a few years of coons raiding the hell out of my coop, they figured out how to open the latches, got wise to my traps. Then I baited and waited.
I took a chicken leg from a kill tied it to the coop with a cowbell and waited by the window with my 22. Got 3 the first night then almost every night for a week I got another. Had about 50lbs of skinned coons I crock pot them till the meat falls off the bone. Then I use the meat in various meals. Not everybody eats coons but I find the meat like a cross between dark meat turkey and pork. Possums I rarely have problems with except for a few over a hard winter. I don't usually kill possums. Mostly cause I don't eat them. Skunks get a pass. I don't mess with skunks if I don't have to. |

Where you at in Missouri? If your close to Farmington I might know a coon hunter that would take the live ones to train dogs with.

A prolific former poster and friend who had a great garden thread taught me last month.
Lost a chicken. We set up live traps. Hot dogs for bait. 2 hours later, possum. Next morning coon. Later that day, 5 more coons. He kills them, then hangs them in the coop. Time... then maggots. Maggots drop to ground, chickens get protein. Not joking. Circle of life. Txl |

Few years back, killed two hogs and dumped guts there. While washing up, saw a few eagles on pile. Time I grabbed my camera, there were 8 eagles on the pile! |

skin em. keep hides burn pile of corpses. That's what I'd do. Nothing like a nice coon skin hat.

I shot a few of them and skinned them. Sent the hides to some outfit in Montana and had a couple of nice hats made.
