Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - fat prairie dogs...worth a try?

we have some very healthy prairie dogs nearby....  at least they look nice and plump.  I'll get some pics.  they look to be around 5+ pounds

do they taste good?  like squirrel?  

protected?  

I don't think I got drawn for elk this year so will need to substitute for kill and grill

They are known carriers of bubonic plague.

It's the fleas on the prairie dog that carries the plague, the meat "should be" ok.

If I absolutely had to eat one for survival, I'd be very careful with handling them with my bare hands. And I'd cook them thoroughly. I do enjoy watching them explode from a .22-250 though.....

A 5lb dog would be a world record.....
