Woodchuck under the shed at my mothers house. She says she sees it throughout the day and the dogs going nuts.

I figure an airgun will do the job as I can make the shot from ~30ft. Or should I try a live trap?  Snares are out due to the pups.

When are they most active? Is there anything I can use to get it to come out? I really don't want it rotting under the shed. What is the best chance I have to drop it?

I vote live trap or .22.

Live trap baited with watermelon.

.22 if you have the time. Mine seem to be active in the morning.

Tan the hide.....tough, supple leather.

I wouldn't depend on a pellet gun, but that's just me.

They are tough.

Are you in town? A pellet gun will kill it but it will run down its hole and it will stink for a while. I vote AR with 55gr softpoints/ballistic tips.

I guess a live trap is the plan then... anything bigger than a pellet gun is a no go.

How difficult is it to tan a hide with zero experience?

You might try a medium conibear trap it will kill it quickly and solve the waiting problem.

Pretty sure op has dogs. That would be a very bad mix

It would be a bad mix.  conibear could really hurt or kill a dog.  Live trap is your best solution.
