Nice shooting!

I baled hay on Sunday and noticed 5-6 active holes in the field. The farmer is good with me going over to pop them. Hoping to make it over this afternoon to scout for a bit. Hopefully I'll have some pics to share in this thread soon.

Awesome, thanks!

I'm hoping the holes I've been watching are actually active. It looked like fresh dirt had been moved, however I haven't seen anything the past three times I've been out. Granted, I think I'm going either too late in the am, or too early in the pm. I stuffed the holes with hay that was missed when we bales the field to see if they move it.

Nice shooting, as always.

Again, I went out and saw nothing. Out of about 8 holes in the hay field, several look active with fresh dirt out in front of the holes. The ones I filled with hay a couple weeks ago have all been cleared out. We baled hay on Saturday, and afterwards I hung around to see if they would come out. It was after 7PM, and nothing. I'm going to head out tonight again, so long as the weather cooperates.

I have yet to see any ground hogs in the areas that I hunt. The only two I've seen this year were in town, where they are safe

Got him at 50 yards sun bathing on top of this massive stump.

Had to climb into it to pull it out feet up in the air lol

Shot him through top of the head and came out the bottom used a Hornady 55gr Soft Point on this one.

Damage from Hornday Soft Point.

Second one shot from way up on the hill down into that wood pile.

Used a Nosler Partition 55gr reload and was surprised it didn’t cause massive damage like they always have in the past. I think the shot was far enough away maybe lost to much velocity or didn’t hit a bone to fragment the bullet.

Finally have something to contribute. Came down to SE Ohio to help the FIL take care of an infestation at his cattle farm.

Took the .17 HMR I have in for review out first (Ruger American w/Vortex scope), which we will be giving away at Varminter.com soon. Popped him at about 70 yards.

Got two more around the barn, 15 yards or less.

Shot at another one, which we thought I got him, but didn't find him. Stepped that off at about 123 yards. Not confirmed, so I counted it as a miss.

Killed this one about 30 minutes ago with the AR using some 55gr v-max hand loads, distance was about 110 yards.

Going out again tomorrow.

Nice kill. I was just thinking the other day about mounting a camera on my AR. Would Make it easier than carrying around a tripod and camera.

Reminds me of all my days out groundhog hunting, my favorite gun was(still is) a Remington 700VS in 223 with a 6X18 Leupold, spent many a day/evening walking from field to field, glassing them, laying in wait at a particular field I thought might get active, there is a metric ton of them within a mile or so of my house but its within the city limits.

Just found this thread...thought I'd contribute a little.

This guy thought he was slick, and only had his head sticking out of the fence row.... a little over 120 yards.  Pulled him out of the weeds for picture time.

BIG female.  Still has food in her mouth.

Since we're not allowed to hunt varmints with semi-auto's just yet, I've been using a Rem. 700 in 223... 50gr V-Max handloads.  Long shot of the year is 256 yards

This guy walked out onto the range while I was doing some chrono work last Thursday with some Australian Outback Ammo I got in to test.
