THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I have a chance to buy something I have wanted for 17 years. A remington model 31 in 16 gauge.

problem is its a modified choke. I have hunted with 12 full my enitre life when it comes to squirrel and sometimes crow. The switched to a 22. for squirrel 17 years ago.

I want the 16 bad, but I have the choice of a 12 full or the 16 in modified. any adive? use a modified choke on squirrel and do ok?

can I get by fine with a modified for squirrel. figure out to 30 ish yards? I go to buy it tomorrow at 5PM so I got to decide fast. I can not describe how I lust for the 16 gauge, so please dont suggest the 12 unless a 16 gauge in mod is useless,

thanks guys
I have to return some video tapes.

This advice is worth what you paid for it:

I hunted every type of critter in northern NH for years with an old 16ga with a modified choke.

I killed Partridge, Crow, Rabbit, Squirrel, Skunk, Mink, etc, etc with no issues.

Turned out the estate had a full choke 16 in it so I got it instead.

a remington model 31, 28inch barrel in full is something I looked for a loooong time. I got it for 250
