Out in the middle of nowhere still belongs to someone...and apparently, they didn't want groundhogs on their property.

If you don't eradicate them everywhere they will increase their numbers, and come back and then be harder to get rid of than the first time.

You can clearly see rows and parts of planted fields in some of those pictures. I'm guessing the farmers in that area are more than happy to have people shoot their pests for them.

What's wrong with shooting pigeons? They're just flying rats....
And I shoot varmints out in the middle of no-where because I like turning furry little animals into red mist. |

Shot one going up my driveway two weeks ago. I don't want them denning in my fish pond's dam which my driveway goes over. Once you get a seep started in a earthen dam, it can't be stopped. That is why burrowing animals are not allowed around it. My purpose, but around here they are pests, burrowing in all sorts of places.

I just finished packing for my annual prairie dog trip to south central SoDak. I grew up in the Dakotas, and these critters cause tons of damage to the ranchers and farmers livelihood. Between the cattle and horses breaking ankles/legs after stepping in the PD holes, to making tillable land unfit for planting, to devouring grasses meant for pasturing cattle they cause tons of headaches. Add to that the sylvatic plague they carry, and I have ZERO qualms about reducing the population.
Oh yeah - they are also the ultimate in reactive targets...and dumb enough to not notice the Tannerite I placed on the frontside of their mound  |
