I've recently joined a hunting lease for the upcoming year, and the leaseholder mentioned to me today that songdogs are game year round. I'm thinking this is a good excuse to get some off-season hunting done. However, I've never hunted them in my life. What's the way to go about it?

I've got handguns, shotguns, and a .308 that I can shoot farther than I can see on this lease. What do I need and what do I do to get them in?
Looks like we've got some imminent violence!

Well if you don't care about the hide, the 308 will get it done. If you can call them in close the shotgun will come in handy. As to get them to come in, an electronic predator call using a pup distress is good this time of the year.

Word of warning.......Once you start coyote hunting you will get hooked! Good luck.

Well we killed 2 last night. I killed my first coyote last night about 830pm!! Simple setup, on the edge of a road bed, using a dying rabbit call, then to a simple howl, but not a real dominant howl. First the male came struting down the road right towards us, Marlin 22 mag laid him out @ 69 yards. then 5 mins later, female came out of the cutover, and my Ruger 10/22 stopped her in her tracks @ 40 yds!
