Ok, pics aren't working right now. Basically my goat was killed right beside my house. His neck was apparently bitten and then he was eaten from the legs up. His guts were pulled out and set aside, but it appears all the vitals like the heart were eaten. His back legs were eaten, but front legs and head were left alone. It was very tidy considering. There were two full grown goats there as well which are fine, so I'm assuming if it was a pack of coyotes they would have killed all three, but maybe not.

Bobcat would have tried to cover it up.. Well at least the ones out here do.. I would have to assume it would be the same back east |

I don't think a bobcat could do that much in one night. Kill it, sure. But eat that much? Nah.
My guess is coyotes. |

My mother -n- law has some goats and has lost 6 baby goats in the past 3 weeks. Pretty sure it is coyotes and she has given me permission to come onto her property anytime to go hunting. As soon as work schedule permits I will get into it. I still need to get my AR sighted in, but once I do and get some calls you better believe I will be back there.

They would have certainly returned to finish their meal. A game camera left at the scene would have also confirmed it was coyottes as opposed to a ferile dog. |

It could be a bobcat kill. A large cat would kill by biting the neck to sofacate the goat. The rest of the damage could be dog/coyote eatting on the carcuss.
Coyotes usually kill by going for soft tissue in the hind quarter/stomach area. Large cats such as cougar, bobcat, lion and tigers will go for the throat after taking out the legs to suffacate the animal. I have watched both coyotes and pumas kill while deerhunting. |
