Depends. Usually we set up a blind and use a Fox Pro Spitfire to call them in. That time we just flushed them out. Not very sporting, but that morning was not meant to be. The amount we killed that morning just shows how thick they are and how badly they need managed. |

Wish I was a little closer to IL, I'd come out and help you. Keep up the good work. |

Took out my buddy (also an ARF member) and he dusted a nice big gray fox - one of the biggest foxes I've seen all season!

Had a skinning demo to do for a group of youth last night, so I had to head out yesterday afternoon and get something. It was stormy and windy - just the way I like it! Managed to bag two foxes, but the other was shot twice and a little too torn up for skinning or even pics. This one got skinned and dissected, though. The teenage girls especially loved it, and the kids skinned the whole thing with just direction from me. It was awesome.

Hey, Rizzo good to see you around, hadn't seen you in a bit, hope all is well.
Last weekend, first set of pictures, my boy used a .17HMR, on his first pix, then I was using 55gn V-Max, then the last picture of the first set, I tried out my 178gn A-Max in my .308, I ended up with the A-Max as to keep a bullet for Long range stuff and shooting varmints - got tired of shooting coyotes at 400-600yrds with 175SMKs and having them fold up only to get up and bolt off and die. I just HAD to try the 178gn A-Maxs on a soft target and they worked well. Then in the second set this weekend - 2 days ago - I was again using 55gn V-Max out of the 18"OBR and my buddy was using the 55gn Nosler® Ballistic Tip® Varmint bullets and they are sweet!!!!!!!!!!, He was borrowing my 20" Stealth - his wasn't threaded and who want to listen to all that noise, lol - and his zero was right on with mine, enough that after the first two he shot center mass -they POPPED - we ended up doing headshots on the rest. All shots were between 120-160yrds. |

Oh, I'm always hanging around somewhere on ARFCOM . . . . been so busy training lately that I haven't posted as much here in the Small Game and Trapping forum as I normally do. But my blog is still active, and we've done 2 Coyote Clinics already this year, with at least 2 more to go later in the fall. I'll be firing up predator hunting again in a little over a month, and I've got some great spots already dialed in. And thanks for the bullet info. Keep it up with those big ugly chucks - wish I lived somewhere I could have a go at them! |

Two more tonight.
Both my buddy and I hit this one.
Same one with my buddies 22-250. Hole with the innards hanging out is from the 22-250. The little hole closer to the front leg is from the 223. Both of us are using handloaded 55 gr Vmax.

made a 105 yard shot to take this crow in the corn this evening.
maybe the fist kill made with the Colt 901 7.62 rifle the 901 would be an excellent coyote rifle. ![]() |
