He's 78, COPD and congestive heart failure, his wife has been in the nursing home for about 3 years and he goes down to see her every day.
It was about 50 degrees, light wind and we were sitting together in a ground blind because there was no way he could climb even a short ladder. I drove him to our stand and got him in the blind.
We saw about 12 turkeys, 2 possums and a squirrel, he was terribly excited about the possum because it ran out of the food plot so he thought a deer was coming... I would motion at him when I saw a turkey etc. He would whisper back that he saw it too. Except he is about deaf so he was pretty much yelling at me in the blind and coughing about every 10 minutes even at "magic" time when the light is fading and you just know a deer is about to step out.
I made an excuse to drive back in to pick him up, had the seat warmers on and the heater going full blast, he was freezing.
Hunting is not always about killing the deer!
Happy Thanksgiving!
