As the title say, can we get a 2015-2016 pic thread going? I have nothing to share at the moment, unfortunately. However, I always enjoy seeing other peoples success when I can't share my own. I even enjoy the stories when there's minimal reading and it's informative. That being said, who do we have to talk to in order to get a post tacked for folks to share?

Tacked!

And, I guess I will start

And my best friend, Chris, on the same hunt.

Awesome! It alsways amazed me how large mule deer are in comparison to deer here in SE VA. I always love back home where deer are so much bigger as well. Maybe one day I'll get an elk tag.

Nothing special but I'm either stuck hunting a cut of Juneau county that doesn't have any deer left after the WI DNR went apeshit with the doe tags for years while leaving the coyotes, wolves, and black bear unchecked, or hunt public land in places like Marquette county with tons of deer but nothing over 3 years old.  Meat is meat.  He was quartering away very heavily.  The arrow ended up stuck in the front of his right shoulder.

Missing an antler, but it would've been a 6pt.  My first with a bow.

Also got this 2 weeks ago.

Well done everyone! I've had a few does walk in under my stand, but everything has gotten a pass so far. Did see one buck walking the edge of a milo field, but he was about 770 yards too far away from taking a shot with my bow. I did take a shot at a coyote about a week ago, but nicked a twig and just barely missed the coyote. That one pissed me off! Beautiful dog and it was even a 10 yard chip shot!

Anchored this guy with a 6.5mm Swedish Mauser at 145 yards. Shot hit the right armpit, took out both lungs, took a chunk out of the heart and exited through the offside shoulder. Ran about 50 feet and piled up. 200 pounds off the hoof.

I should call this little doe "1", since I shot her the first hour of the first day of my first muzzleloader season.  Definitely on the small side to shoot, but it's been a rough archery season and my freezer is empty.  Plus I was sort of excited . Now with my doe out of the way, I can hunt for a buck

Where did you shoot it? The antlers look like white tail antlers from that angle but 200 lbs is way to big for a coues. Or am I seeing things wrong and it's a mulie? The face also looks too dark for a mule deer. I'm guessing you didn't shoot it in AZ?

White tail buck. Harvested on my family land in eastern Washington. Still haven't changed my location in my profile. One of these days I'll get around to it.

I was the second person to shoot this Florida deer Saturday morning. A fellow club member shot him low in right leg, sent him running my way. He traveled 500 yards across a chop stopping at 200 yards where I shot and missed. He then ran strait to me closing the distance to 100 yards, he stood broad side until I reloaded my muzzle loader. I took the second shot, he went 10 yards and expired. I told my fellow member that he received an assist kill.

First deer of the year to put some meat in the freezer. I had been dying to try an 11.5" on a deer since last year. 62gr Federal Fusion to the lungs. She ran about 100yds.

I used federal brass,CCI #200 primers,49gr of IMR 4895 and 150gr nossler partition spitzers #16329

Shot was 151 yrds and about 20 degree down angle, 6:00 hold right where the bullet hit clipped the underside of the spine and out the ribcage. He dropped like a sack of bricks, twitched a few times and died on the spot.

So hard to do measurements over the internet.  I know guys who can do it in person and get damn close every time just by eyeballing, they don't even try to guess over the net.

Here is a good place to start if you want to know.

https://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/bc_scoring_typwhitetail.asp?area=bgRecords&type=Typical+Whitetail+Deer

The deer two posts above yours was 117 and 3/4 inches gross and 112 and 3/8 after deductions.  Scored unofficially and before the 60 day drying period by someone who has sat on a Pope and Young panel.

I had to let the one deer I saw today pass due to antler point restrictions in my county.  I had a perfect quartering away shot at 30 yards, but it did not have four tines on one side.  I heard hardly any shots today, the conditions were not very good where I was.  Gusting winds going every direction and got warm, nothing was moving.  Hopefully on Friday and Saturday.

My Wife shot this one opening morning this season. .243 100yds. We try and kill the first buck we see so getting a somewhat decent one was nice. First shot was in the neck and dropped him where he stood but his legs were still kicking so she shot him again and split his head. My 9yo daughters first year coming along on a big game hunt and she loved it.

Took this small 6 with a 300BLK AR Pistol yesterday.  He was hot and heavy chasing a doe.  I thought what the heck, I'll whistle at him to see if he'll stop, and if he stops I'll shoot.  Well, he stopped, gave me a perfect shot quartering slightly away.  Double lung / heart shot and broke the opposite shoulder.  He ran on adrenaline about 25 yards and crashed hard.

Entrance wound was on his right side, and the bullet lodged just under the hide on the left shoulder.  125gr Nosler Balistic tip.
