I wasn't aware that there were different kinds of TSX as I have never used them or given them much thought. I have not chrono'd rounds out of the rifle but you lose a lot of velocity out of a 10.5.
ETA: a quick search yields about 2500 FPS with a 62gr projo.

All of my 5.56 rifles have been circumcised to 10.5. Do you think I will still have enough oomph at 100 yards to make a TSX work or should I use a core lokt?
Which TSX??? What does your chronograph say???

I have been using 5.56MM pressure 70GR. TSX loads for a few years now in barrel lengths from 24" Varmint down to 10" LWT M4. Have mostly used either the factory SSA 5.56MM 70GR. TSX loading or a 70GR. TSX over 5.56MM NATO pressure TAC handload. Barnes water-shot expansion testing showed minimum expansion velocity needed for the 70GR. TSX is 1800 FPS & 1900 FPS for all the other 0.224" TSX/TTSX bullets with one exception. The factory BHA 5.56MM 50GR. TSX loading with their proprietary 50GR TSX "auto-glass" bullet which requires 2300 FPS. You really want the TSX bullet to hit the target at least 200 FPS above minimum to get full expansion. Below are some chrono readings for the factory SSA 70gGR. TSX and 5.56MM NATO pressure TAC handloads. HTH
Factory SSA 5.56MM 70GR. TSX @ approx. 90 degrees F fired in 1X7 twist Colt barrels. This is the load SSA produced prior to the Nosler buyout.
10"---: 2575 FPS ( This load retains minimum expansion velocity out to right at 300 yds. from this entry length barrel)
14.5"-: 2748 FPS
16"---: 2802 FPS
Handloaded 70GR. TSX over 5.56MM NATO pressure TAC @ approx. 90 degrees F fired in 1X7 twist Colt barrels
10"---: 2543 FPS
14.5"-: 2733 FPS
16"---: 2787 FPS
Water-shot expansion test of a 5.56MM 70GR. TSX fired from 10" Colt:
Water-shot expansion test of a 5.56MM 62GR. TSX fired from 10" Colt:
5.56MM 70GR. TSX fired from 10" Colt smashed thru the spine then exited. I have taken several more with 62GR. & 70GR. TSX bullets but this is the largest at approx. 240lbs. I need a 0.224" bullet that will not let me down even if I get a less-than-optimum shot on a big boy. Thru the years, I have taken whitetail with a number of different 0.224" bullets: 55GR. FMJBT, 70GR. Speer Semi-Spitzer, Barnes X, 60GR. Nos. Part., 69GR. SMK, 77GR. SMK, probably a few others. The TSX is the best 0.224" bullet I have used so far. Over double diameter expansion with 100% weight retention giving very deep penetration are all extremely desirable qualities for any bullet but especially for .223/5.56MM. Are there other 0.224" bullets that will kill a whitetail cleanly? You bet. We have a good selection of suitable 0.224" bullets today. Choose what works best for your purposes. Also consider 5.56MM pressure loads if your barrel is chambered for it because they are usually quite a bit faster than a .223 pressure loading of the same bullet. I am not a big fan of leaving potential terminal performance on the table when it come to the 5.56MM AR15/M16 platform. Factory 5.56MM loads such as the SSA 5.56MM 70GR. TSX & BHA 5.56MM 62GR. TSX should be very solid choices. The new BHA 5.56MM 77GR. TMK load looks like it should work well but have not seen actual terminal performance on a flesh & bone target with it yet. It will be the first 5.56MM load I use this year on whitetail.
