THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
I was planning all sumer to put a food plot in around late august. However when I went out to check the area last week, the dirt had NO moisture and with no rain in the forcast dont think anything will grow.

will this heat also push back the rut? what else might change in their habbits?

Contrary to what many may believe, the rut basically occurs at the same time each year. Heat during that time frame may force the rutting activity to occur after dark, but is still occurs on time.
It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

I'm surprised we haven't heard more about blue tongue disease hitting them this year, what with water scarce and sources concentrated.

I also am interested to see what kind of acorn crop we have. Might be a lean winter for the deer with the corn and beans so crappy.

blue tongue has been hitting NE hard this year around the Platte and spreading throughout the state. NE G&P have acknowledged this. i heard that Montana had it really bad two years ago.
