THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT
He stopped about 100 yards from me directly behind a fallen log and I couldn't see anything except legs and about 4 inches of neck and alot of antlers. I was able to drop him in his tracks, but unfortunately I shot him through his right ear and it came out through his left main beam. Luckily my taxidermist said he can fix it.

Congratulations on a great buck.
It is not so much for its beauty that the forest makes a claim upon men's hearts, as for that subtle something, that quality of air that emanation from old trees, that so wonderfully changes and renews a weary spirit.

The head usually becomes "crunchy" sounding when that type of shot is made and you grab it by the antler. I love that feeling.

Good shoot, and congrats on your first antlered deer.

congrats on the buck. You dropped him, and you didn't lose him. Can't complain about that.

Nice deer. Even if it can't be mounted, no one can take the memory of the hunt from you.
