That photograph looks familiar.  I believe I have the same one in my camera.

Eat your heart gang I got had the honor of meeting and hanging out with Mrs. TacticalHillbilly while I was up in West Viginia hunting.  Oh yeah I almost forgot her OTHER 1/2 was around too.

I admit I'm biased for the state but I am impressed with the Montana results.

Opening (gun) morning I got my first pistol kill this year.  S&W 629-1, 6" barrel, 240gn Hornady XTP   -  Dropped the little guy where he stood at 60yards one shot.

We get another weekend of gun season - I didnt get one but it sure was pretty out in the woods.

My FAL carbine and the doe.

What a drag out of the creek bottom and canyon ravine ...

Got her up this far and only ....500 yds more up hill to the jeep XJ.

I should mentioned that I pulled her out of that creek bottom and field dressed her in the spot where the last picture is. That way, I had more room to work in and the gut pile was in the open where I may get a shot at coyote later today. Yeah, the shot was a little far back than ideal and she was quartering away made the exit even further back but the stomach didn't get hit so it was all blood. You can see a portion of the lung hanging out the exit hole in the last pic. That .308 soft point really made a mess but she dressed out clean.
No Buck tag this year, but I had a couple doe tags.
Earlier during the ML  I got one with the muzzleloader.
This one finally on the last of the  late season with my Imbel Carbine from about 60 yds. My first with a FAL and a muzzleloader.

So all in all, a very good season.

Thats a nice buck for Texas!  What'd he score, any idea?  I'm guessing 130 class.

Here's the pictures from the Mule deer hunt we went on in Nov. It was awesome First time I gone somewhere that I wasn't freezing my tail off while hunting. I had to stalk my deer about 500-700yds to finally take a texas heart shot since the only time it went broadside was right in front of a cow. Ended up taking a 75yd shot. My brother shot his at 315yds, and my dad shot 450yd . That's a long shot when you grow up hunting in thickets and swamps where the farthest you shoot is 100yds.

He was actually an overachiever! Just over 140. I couldn't believe it either, but the tape said different A bit over 18" wide & the beams were almost 24". Saw a couple of gollywhoppers, but no shots at 'em.

A lot of nice deer there where did you go ? looks like Montana or Wyoming, was it an outfitter sponsored hunt ?
Link Posted: 2/6/2010 1:19:41 PM EDT
[#22]
Outfitter in NewMexico JJ ranch if I remember correctly.  My dad hooked up with them a couple years ago through Safari Club.  A lot of big deer, but because they only harvest a limited number a deer a year, they really need to start some dink hunts. I'd go at a discounted rate because their dinks look like giants compared to any MI whitetails.

I can't believe we all used to host pics on photobucket.

But, yeah, man, time flies. I just read where I shot a doe on page 2 of this thread. I vaguely remember it. I definitely remember smoking a hindquarter for my now-wife.
