This spot saved for picture.

Well ......Looks like no pics from me. The place I hunt.(out back in the woods behind my house) has been over run by everyone in the neighborhood.I have shotgun blasts going off constantly,,I'm half scared to walk out into my back yard right now.And I can't find another place to hunt...So I will loan my muzzle loader to a freind that has never hunted before.Because he has a place to hunt if and he gets one I will post pics.

F#^&K!!

Spot reserved......

Last years before and after

This years before.......

Downed around 9:30 on October 24th.....Ironicly the same day I killed the one I mounted above last year.  I am about 90% certain it's the same deer I have in the picture of the "before" above.  The tines are shorter than last years but the inside spread was right at 17 inches.  The deer itself was HUGE, had a body like a steer and the neck was at full swell.  Now for the rifle season.....sorry about the pictures as well, cameraman is NOT a professional.

Female cloven hoved rat, last night about 30 yards from my house.

wife:
I hate that thing! It eats my flowers! Kill it! Kill it now!

Taken with an arrow at about 10 yards, hit a bit low but still punched both lungs. She ran about 20 yards and collapsed.

I am guessing about 80 tops by shot placement.  A little adrenaline can go a long ways.

No pics..  I won't even give an excuse because I just don't have a good one.

I saw my first piebald doe while in the stand.  Decent sized, went white behind the front shoulders with a few brown splotches along the sides.

My arrow went right underneath her.  At least she had no clue I was there.  I decided not to just lob arrows at her until I figured the proper range.  Apparently my 45-60 yard range estimation sucks.  Hopefully I get another opportunity at her.  If not, it was still happy to have actually seen one.

45-60 Yards?? Damn Byron Ferguson....don't believe it to be completely ethical at those ranges unless you really know what you're doing! And then gives deer too much time to react and screw up shot placement!!

I put an arrow through one today decent size doe....my friend shot at a group of 4 on one side of a pond, they ran towards me...and i hit her at about 30 yards on the move...
I followed the blood trail for about 3 miles through some heavy brush...saw her jump up and run once, hit her through the mid section...but she went into some really dense stuff and i couldnt find her after that...
i can post pics of blood trail and arrows though...edit...blood trail pic is kinda fuzzy need to ms paint some circles in it

He got hit by a car and I had to finish him off.    Why can't I get one like that when I'm hunting?

If you hit her back far enough to gut shoot her, there is zero doubt that she'll die. All gut-shot deer die –– it may take as long as 24-48 hours though (usually quicker.) If you hit her a little more forward than the guts, you probably got a liver hit, which should prove to be fatal within a few hours tops. Go back and look for her later today and you should find her, assuming you didn't run her into the next county earlier. Good luck.

i should have taken a picture of the stuff she went into....shot her in thick maple saplings...ran into pine/palmetto's...blood trail into hardwood swamp, then back to palmettos, and then into thick saplings/vines...i hit her behind lungs, in front of hip area...like i said she was on a quick hop...this WMA is about 60k acres, and lets just say i had to walk three miles just on the county road to get back to where i started...i felt i exhausted all means to get to her, but i was upset i couldnt get her....oh well, ive got another week or so of the season left...gonna go out in another few days

Shot this muley on sunday, 7mm Rem mag, rangefinder said 398 yds.  Sorry there is no field picture, my camera got left in the truck.  I added the dark pic of our trailer after we got the deer out of the hills and back to the truck.

I don't think this years before and after pics are of the same deer.  Look real close at the brow tines, the dead one's tine on the right in pic is curved, trail cam pic isn't.  Trail cam pic looks way heavier mass too.  Get back out there and get the one on the camera!!

Good luck

Damn it you know you are correct. I never seen any other bucks cruising this area and I just thought it was him!
I confirmed this today when out muzzle loading and ran into the one on the trail cam! I was about to go home , got down out of the tree and de-cocked my gun for safety. Well as I am walking out the woods this guy pops up and is 15 yds, doesn't see me either. I put a bead on him and pulled the trigger and it sounded like I through a fire cracker at him as the hammer was not cocked back and it barely hit the primer. Deer heard that and was gone...Man was I pizzed off...still am.

Good job guys...I took this deer on 10-19-09 during Tn's bow season..Had a rough season starting out,but this made it up.He only had nubs like a button buck, but you could see where he was a spike and broke his horns off, don't know if he did it while they was growing or what, but he wasn't a normal button. He was to big to be a button....Anyway,gave him a 100gr 3 blade muzzy at 19 yds quartering to and he only went 20 yds and I watched him go down from my stand,I like hunts like that..Only my 2nd bow deer ever..He's in the freezer and is eating very well, which reminds me,I need to get upstairs and cut some jerky up..

Here's mine for this year taken with my M1A. Taxidermist said he should score an easy 170,  25 1/2 wide and he weighed in at just under 200 lbs dressed out.  I had to drag him 1.5 miles back to my truck but worth all the effort.
