["Predator" Quote] Anna: When I was little, we found a man. He looked like - like, butchered. The old woman in the village crossed themselves... and whispered crazy things, strange things. "El Diablo cazador de hombres." Only in the hottest years this happens. And this year, it grows hot. We begin finding our men. We found them sometimes without their skins... and sometimes much, much worse. "El cazador trofeo de los hombres" means the demon who makes trophies of men. [/"Predator" Quote]

This place seems okay, but I haven't ordered from them yet. They are an authorized dealer:

Don't buy it from them.  That's the place I bought mine from.  PayPal transaction went thru immediately.  They took over two weeks to get my "IN STOCK" order from Texas to Indianapolis. They are very unresponsive to emails.  When they finally did respond, I was told my shipment was shipped inadvertently to BANGKOK (!)  I can't make this up.

Amazon had the same panel with an additional adapter for $24 more and I could have had it in 2 days.

Bigdaddy, where did you get the Powerfilm?

This place was the cheapest I've found, but they have some complaints against them for non-delivery:

I'm only 5 min from Ft Harrison State Park.  Have you decided if you're bringing your new mobile hamshack, km?  If you do, you'll have to re-do your pics of your light weight set up to include the weight of the trailer.

If we are going to backpack camp I probably won't.  If the weather would look real bad there for the weekend and we go to one of the campgrounds I would be nice to get out of the rain.  Of course it depends on them getting it done tomorrow like they expect.   Do you think we will have cell coverage there?  I know it is poor in many spots in that area.

It's pretty close to I.U. Bloomington where my son's starting his collegiate career on the 17th.  Cell coverage was good there last month for orientation.  I'm bringing my backpacking tent plus some light rain gear.

I have found that cell coverage is good in Bloomington but poor or non-existent in many of the forest areas not far from Bloomington.

Ok, you guys, somebody better be set up with WINMOR so we can get some emails and shit and get freq's and spots on you next weekend!

Either that or set up some 20 and 40M phone, CW and digi sked's, etc.

Tomorrow it starts.  Do you want to do it the old way and hunt for us online or do you expect us to make it easy and tell you where and when we are on the air?  Looks like it will be hot and maybe some thunderstorms popping up.  With everything including tent, clothes, food, radio, antenna and lots of water my pack weighs 31.4 lbs

OK...here's my 1st shot at a rough draft.  I'm concentrating mainly on digi comms.  km will have to speak for himself.

Arrive at Hickory Ridge Fire Tower parking lot around 1600Z (Noon EST) (Check for cellular signal)
Hike to camp site.  (Check for cellular signal)
Set up tents.
Set up antennas and radios.

1800Z  (EVEN) 20m Digital Arfcom 14.067.5 USB +1500 Olivia 16/500

1900Z  (ODD)  20m Digital WSJT-X 14.076  USB  JT65/JT9

Then, bounce back and forth until the sun goes down (~0100Z) and switch to 40m on same ODD/EVEN hour pattern.

0100Z  (ODD)  40m Digital WSJT-X 7.076  USB  JT65/JT9

0200Z  (EVEN) 40m Digital Arfcom 7.114 USB +1500 Olivia 16/500

Not sure if we will interfere running digital and phone on the same band.  I know it is a problem at higher power.  I doubt we can run digi and cw on the same band since they would be so close in frequency.  I will probably be on 40 when BD is on 20 and 20 when he is on 40.  CW 7.040 and 14.060   SSB 7.285 and 14.285.

IF 17 is open I will try at 18.1575

10 meters is fun if we get some Es. Watch the novice/tech portion there.
