Grats...what kind of antennas are you making?

One DiPole and two beams, one of them a hand held for my HT to work satellites.
I'm buying a mag mount for the Hummer.
thinking of this for my GoBoxhttp://www.aesham.com/multi-band/yaesu-ftm-400dr/

This is the DiPole http://www.amateurradio.bz/2m-70cm_vertical_dipole_antenna.html

It's FAE you pathetic mundane toilet-sitting puke!

We are FAE...not fairies.

And that will be about the end of your payout from the copper rainbow.

With Tech, you can operate voice in part of 10 Meters, and CW on segments of 80, 40, and 15. Contrary to popular opinion, CW is not all that hard to learn. We'll be glad to help.

Congratz on passing!

The General test has a lot of overlap with the Tech test, so start studying the material now (I'm assuming you aren't just memorizing the questions) even though the question pool will change.

Congrats!    But October, such a long wait.    The faeries will have plenty of time to prepare you, however you must not fear them!

Thanks for all the replies! I was out this weekend at a survival school and just got a chance to look at all the encouragement here!

I haven't put much though into my HF antenna, trying to take "Baby Steps"

Congrats Adirondack1!

I suggest getting an inexpensive 100Watt HF rig since your Tech privileges will allow you to play on 10M.  The antenna doesn't take up much space (a 16' painter's pole and two 8 foot wire elements) and will get you talking all over.

Or just get the ArfHam special, Icom IC-7200 (w/ handles of course), and an LDG IT-100 tuner and you are set.  A used Kenwood TS-590 is also an excellent if not more capable (think 6M FM) rig for a few bucks more.  Both of these rigs offer a direct USB connection to your PC for the digital modes so you don't need another piece of equipment--the radio will handle it for you.  While I enjoyed talking on the local VHF/UHF freqs and repeaters, using my Tech privileges on HF was much more enjoyable.

Don't worry about the cost of it.  What with ARJedi (and now SCWolverine) just expect that they will have you spending pretty much everything you have.  While your lips will say no, your fingers will say yes to the order button.  Nevermind that SCW just posted a discount code for $200 off a Kenwood 590SG from MTC radio.

There, I fixed it for you.

And you left out a power supply... Samlex SEC-1223 or SEC-1223BBM.

When your license is in the FCC database you need to print an OFFICIAL (not "reference") copy of your license from the FCC Database.

First, set up your FRN and Password.  Once that is done, then follow instructions here:

http://www.ar15.com/forums/t_10_22/681229_.html&page=1

Another bit thing you want to do, find your page at QRZ.com by (1) joining the site, get user name and password, and (2) find your page by entering your call sign in the search at the upper left of the page.

You need to take ownership of the page, making yourself admin of the page, and then you can put in a photo, your email address, a bio, other info.
