I sense a weather balloon / dipole build in the future. (And a trip up skyline drive)

I suspect that modifying it to be used on 80 or 20 would be 'rather' simple.  Seems the DDS already does 0-10mhz

Not bad for $125. Let us know how it works. I assume it can do CW too, right?

I wonder if swapping out for THESE would convert it to 30 M....  When I get it, I will see what happens when I spin the VFO north of 7.3000.  The VFO might be limited by the PROM that is to the right of the LCD.

Sounds like it will be shipped by carrier pigeon.

Well, considering the fact that there is no ham radio allocation on 30 meters for SSB,  it probably wouldn't be a good idea. Although you possibly could use it for digital modes.

The entire 30 meter band is only 50 khz wide. Only narrow bandwidth modes are allowed on 30 meters.

I was at the local radio club meeting tonight and it seems you bought this before a local guy could pry out his wallet.

I do wish this guy would have gotten it so I could see it in action, but hopefully I will get to hear it on the air from you.

Isn't 30m usable for digital too?  If so, create a  30M plug-in for this radio to do digi and switch it back to 40M or 20M when you're not.

Another one popped up on eBay...

Mine is mounted in a box.  Unfortunately, I need to find 2 hours of free time to wire it up.

The crystal filter is going to limit that. Acts as a low pass filter to get the decent harmonic rejection. What you could do is figure out the components and reverse engineer it. Plug the numbers into Elsie and see what comes up.

What vfo button did you end up with and where did you get it?

Also what mic jack?

I have never built anything but an antenna.  Think I am squared away on the rest of the parts.
