Ok... now that I'm intrigued... Seems that there are a bunch of different sub models... A, D, H, B, G.... any idea the difference?

It's incredible the test equipment that you can buy today that used to cost as much as a new car.

We used something like that a few weeks ago on our repeater. We tuned our duplexers as well as the antenna.
I remember a time when you sent duplexers away to have them tuned. Now, it's DIY.

And the new stuff still costs as much. I saw a quote for a General Dynamics R8000B…3GHz option, P25 Phase I and II, Autotune for Motorola XTS, XTL, and APX handhelds and mobiles, tracking generator…just under $50k. Made me think about the unit GD gave me…R8000A (the only difference is the B has a 5 dB more sensitive receiver @-140 dBm) that is fully loaded. Autotunes for APX, XTL, XTS, TRBO, NXDN…P25 I&II. Didn't know they got that expensive.

Yeah, stuff is crazy $$$$

15 years ago if you told me I would be tuning duplexers in my basement with a service monitor and spectrum analyzer and I would have less than $1000 in all of it I would have called you crazy.

Back then we had access, but only through guys who worked in the industry.

We've got the individual monitors at the University. The only reason an R8000 is sitting in my house is because I'm a sales rep for GD. So I get a demo unit. Have been putting it to use though.
