I finally took my radio out of the townhouse where I couldn't string up my antenna and hopped it into a tree at the park next-door. 20m is noise free right now! Can hear all through to TX, made contact with AD5XD on 14.258.

Congratulations!

You do realize, of course, that this is habit forming?

Very nice! Are you still at the radio? I'm near mine.

Not anymore. It was pretty darn cold! I listened to the W1HQ pileup for a bit after and packed up...

Now to figure out how to do the logbook and QSL stuff...

AWESOME

HF is a blast

My first QSO was on 10m SSB

Talked to a 6 lander, heard him calling CQ,  . . . he thought it was cool that I picked him for my first contact, that he mailed me a QSL card that same day.

that was march 1993

I'm still hooked

That radio helped me log 78 countries on just 20m.

Glad to hear it's in good hands!

I think it's nothing short of amazing that I can talk to Japan or Chile, both 5500 miles from my home with my radio set to about 40 watts but I can't tune in the local FM rock station that puts out 25,000 watts from across town.

Congradulations !  That is really good.  Keep up the great work.  Amateur radio is a lot of fun.  I still remember my first contact.  Now, work some dx, the world is at your fingertips.

Great contact!  Keep spinning the dial and you'll get some DX.  I made a bunch on 10m then upgraded to General so I played a bit on other bands.... Lots of fun!!
