So I checked into a couple nets on 20m this morning. No traffic just wanted to see how I was getting out. I hit net control in Denver 5x7 and another in Dayton 5x9. I was happy.

That is when I thought to myself, I wonder what is going on down on CB. My 20m antenna is a ground mounted vertical so I figured it would do fine on 11m. Oddly enough I haven't ever tried to listen to CB at my house even though I am about 1 mile from i95.

I spun it down to 27.185 and heard the normal "Thanks driver" traffic. Then I figured I would spin around and see what else I could hear. That is when I came across this fellow. I think his name is 24/7 but I am not sure.

Be careful because 1) it is nsfw and 2) I started recording the audio a little high at first, around 20 seconds it levels out normal.

He is saying that he is very displeased with the gentleman known as 24/7 's recent activities, and is seeking a conversation with him to resolve the situation.

God, I love CW!

I-81 is just over the ridge from me, and when the weather turns bad, channel 19 settles down real fast.

I will not further discuss my discontent on the subject..... Except to make the fact known that I am very displeased with his activities.

Recorded in beautiful Memphis, Tennessee.  Anyone care to translate?

EDIT: You can also enjoy the musical stylings of power line noise, courtesy of MLG&W.

EDIT 2: In this clip, they seem to be discussing the classic Tom Cruise film "Top Gun".  Cinephiles

No it isn't but I'd love to hear your recommendation for a frequency hams use to communicate road conditions, warn of hazards, get directions and so on. In 7 years of being a ham I still can't find it, but then, I'm just a dumb CB'r

I've never heard anyone there.
They can probably sense my CB roots and avoid me.

I've had some awesome conversations on 146.520 especially while traveling.

Have you ever come up on a traffic jam, jumped on your radio and been able to find out what was happening and then got directions on how to get around the mess?
Have you ever been driving along at night and heard someone come on the radio to warn you that there was a herd of elk around the next corner? Ice? Tree down over the road?
Ever talk to the plow trucks working a mountain pass to find out when they plan on opening the mountain?
Talk to highway patrol to report a drunk/reckless driver?
Strike up a conversation with another random traveler on a long trip to pass the time?
Reliably able to get directions to a good choke'n'puke in a strange city?

CB'rs may have to put up with random asshats on some channels some times but in exchange for that we get a tool that actually serves a valuable purpose on a daily basis.

As for the CB lingo for dummies comment earlier in the thread. Try teaching Q codes to a non ham then get back to me

I use a handheld CB when I'm driving, it's a pretty valuable tool. It also tells me when 10m is open, lol.
