I've got a Ham neighbor that's only about 400 yards away.  I think he's newly licensed/upgraded.  I haven't heard him in a few weeks, or talked to him yet, but I sure know when he's on the air!

I need to build a dummy load and try contacting this guy by running about 1 watt through it.

No, sorry, I meant when I heard that ragchew between the guy from Belaire and Greenland that the guy in Greenland was the same guy you mentioned. I don't think I ever caught the call sign of the guy on Belaire.

I got mine back today from the same guy! Obviously mail service is suspended in Cuba. You can get another stamp from the post office for free.

I heard them about a month ago, but didn't answer his CQ. It would have been awkward -- "Dude, is your weiner hanging out while you are talking to me?"

Cutting grass and stopped to cool off.  Looks like there is a good opening into Africa this afternoon:

14.207 - T77LA ---- San Marino
14.080 - OD5ZZ ---- Lebanon
14.185 - 5I3W ----- Tanzania
14.290 - YI1WWA - Iraq
14.177 - JY5JA ---- Jordan
14.074 - 5T5PA --- Mauritania

Lots of stations in Europe as well so it would be a good day to play radio!

I've not had any luck with 5I3W any days I've tried. They run split 5-10 up, and I can never seem to get the rhythm of which frequency they are listening on at any given moment. I did get JY5FA in Jordan tonight, and have already worked ST5PA, OD5ZZ, and T77LA. The two Iraqi stations I hear frequently are always so damned faint that I seldom even call to them.

I have all of them except Iraq confirmed from years past so I didn't even try.  I just finished my grass about 2 hours ago and I'm still recovering from that.  90 degrees and about the same humidity percentage takes a lot out of someone my age ;)

I couldn't hear any of the other stations, but E51JD, South Cook Islands, on 14.225, just went QRT for the night because people wouldn't stop calling while he was trying to finish a QSO with a particular station.  You could tell he was frustrated and getting very angry.

Perhaps they have a web page to look up for the proper splits.  I would guess if you are going to split that you need to work that out ahead of time.

I tried calling a few times with no luck. There was zero sense of etiquette with that pileup. People were just randomly TXing, stomping on the DX station and whoever he was trying to qso with.

Pile ups are fun when people play by the rules of the game. If the DX station asks for an area or a particular station, everyone should STFU.

I heard a female broadcast from what appeared to be a highly stressed woman from Australia. It was a rant about covid and the lockdowns and lies, and went into our election fraud. Too much qsb, and it faded before I heard an identifier. It was around 14.285. It was like something from a movie.

Another laughable moment! Someone listed a Cape Verde station on DX Summit, but a Cuban station was loud and clear on the frequency. An Italian station was all excited, thinking he'd gotten Cape Verde, and kept using the Cape Verde call sign when addressing the Cuban. The Cuban kept correcting him on the call sign, and the Italian kept repeating the Cape Verde call sign. I laughed pretty loud when the Italian said, "QSB! QSB!" and then shut up and wouldn't respond to the Cuban who kept calling to him.

QSL info.

Cut the corner off of an envelope and put in ONLY your QSL card. NOTHING more. No green stamps, no letter, No SASE, no NOTHING. QSL card ONLY.

You cut the corner off the envelope so the mail thieves can see there's no money in it.

Go to the V51NAM's administrator listed on the QRZ page and see what he has to say.

Yes, I was able to hear some Japanese stations for the first time, for a little while.

Managed to have a QSO with 2 different ones, which shocked the hell out of me, since supposedly band conditions were "poor" and the index was 84. Totally made my day.

He's going to be kind of tricky to get a card from.RW5HS, his QSLmanager wants an IRC for a card.

Email him and find out if he'll take a couple of bucks...or maybe even PayPal.

rials or the new toman?

I am guessing that they’re still using rials and haven’t chopped the three or four zeros off the inflated currency yet.

Paypal might be the easiest for sure!
