I am going to try a wire 2 element yagi on 20m.

Which is better, a reflector or director? I have found designs for both. My ARRL classic wire antenna book shows a 30m design with only the director. That would be nice because it uses less wire.

Look at the directional pattern, and the front to back ratio of both, and decide accordingly.

Do you have any references? That is what I am asking.

I don't even know how to model one with a director. Looked into a 2 element 40m beam at one point…massive SOB.

I can model this in 4NEC if you ask me nicely.

Every 2-element one I've seen or read about has a driven and a reflector, so that's what I'd do.

20m 2-el yagi with Reflector and no diirector

20m 2-el yagi with Director and no reflector

I kinda figured that would happen after trying to model some moxons back to back sharing the reflector.  the other undriven DE acted as a director and turned them into a really crappy and elaborate dipole.

Driven and reflector.
