Said last night I'd post my key collection - L to R:

 o Venerable J-38 straight key

o CMI-26003A straight key - a Navy Surp 'Flameproof' key.  My best guess is for use in naval aircraft, where you're sitting in the cockpit of a leaky 100/130 octane gas can.

o Vibroplex Champion, a 'bug' - there are websites where one can track down the model and s/n to determine year of manufacture.  Mine's not old, 60's-ish.  Vibroplex sold kazillions of these to the railroads.  Pressing to the right engages the pendulum to auto-tap out dits.  Dahs are manually tapped out by pressing the paddle to the left.

o Vibroplex Iambic key, used with the keyer.  With two separate paddles, one presses with thumb (right handed) to make one contact and the keyer (or radio) sounds dits or if you press on the right side the other paddle sounds out dahs.  But what makes it 'iambic' is that if you squeeze both paddles together it alternates dits and dahs, starting with whichever contact made connection first.  Funny thing is that this one (and an MFJ keyer) was given to me.  I didn't realize until I got the bug that the Iambic key was wired backwards.  I ping'd the guy, "Yeah, I wired it up for left handed, so I can hold the pencil in my right."  Yeah, I'd like to learn to send left-handed too, but I don't think it ought to be necessary to wire the key backwards.

When I do finally get some skill at CW, I expect there might be a 'sideswiper' in my future.  Something like a Mini-B from http://www.americanmorse.com/

Don't remember whom now, but someone was having trouble with their IRLP node working for calls going out but not inbound.  I'd suggested an issue with 'port triggering' vs. 'port forwarding' but that felt at the time like a bit of a stretch.  This note came across the IRLP today --

https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/pirlp/conversations/messages/2370

Also seemed to fit the description.

Popped into my local HRO today.  (Danger Will Robinson!)  I live within walking distance of the store.  Picked up some more accessories for my spiffy new brand-Y FT-60 HT.

Commented as the counter-guy rang up the total, "Wow, they're *really* proud of the ear-bud/mic unit."

Got home, realized he'd invoiced me for a 'Hustler SSM-1" rather than a "Yaesu SSM-57A."

It was expensive enough without a couple extra sawbucks tossed in.  Good news is... they're within walking distance.  I'lll pop back in on Monday and get it sorted out.

That was me, (KC9xxx).  You were correct with the port forwarding being the problem.  Thank you!  I ran the IRLP Trouble Shooting Script and found that
TEST 2a REPORT - TCP ERROR - TCP port 15425 is NOT forwarded correctly.  Had to add it in the new router, and everything works correctly now.  Mr. Harry confirmed this with a call. Thank you, too!

Nice QLP!  I did something similar, picked up nearly the same accessories for my FT-60 a little while back.  That little earbud speaker and mic combo works very well for me, although my kids say I look like a "Secret Agent" with it!  -->  Direct Link

Thanks for sharing that video, QLP!  That's freaking AWESOME!

I had no idea it would take longer than 2 weeks to get the IRLP board and Pi from irlp.net.  I'm so done with the touchiness of Echolink with my ISP....  and patience is not my thing.  >2 weeks is a killer.

hahah.  yeah, there is that.  How long did yours take to arrive?  I'm part of the "I have to have it now" generation.  although, I have tested myself a few times ordering a tOBR and other random stuff from PSA.  This is apparently therapy for me.

Maybe next week, just now registered.

Is there a PC software for this?  All I found was an app.

I am also worried I screwed up by registering with my arrl email...we'll see if that works.

I'll try to check in real quick.  As usual I'm still Uncle Sam's bitch tonight though....

I spent way too much money recently, so I've been trying to stay off the black rifle and radio boards as much as possible until I can get dug out of prep debt!  These boards spend my money faster than I can make it.LOL

Several? You were gone for like 2 hours.

The 7100 (new) is down to about what the 7k's are selling for used. Yes I know..... it doesn't have a color screen.

Well,
It started off on IRLP/echolink and ports (which I was almost no help with. He is trying to do tech support for a router he sold and near as I can figure out the guy he sold it to is either running a stand alone echolink and then stand alone IRLP off a pi. Or its a UDP port issue getting sent to the wrong program.) Finally got him pointed at the IRLP site and told him to have the guy run the /scripts/troubleshoot-irlp..
Then went to antennas and why resonant is a damn good thing to be heard on, then over to the ic-7000.
He had found out that the 7000 has voice announce. Lets just say he wants one just about as much as you do.

I did manage to finish up my QSL card, and found out that is was a 6 meter JT65 to the DFW area last may.

My apologies for missing the last half of the net. I'll be good next week.
