THE IMAGE ABOVE IS A PAID ADVERTISEMENT Here is a picture of what I have in mind of:
Will having the antennas in line cause me major issues? Will I have grounding issues? Is there any other reason that this setup wouldn't work well? Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |

You'll have ground plane issues, as in you won't have one at all. Other than that and swamping other radios with transmitting (which really can't be helped much in a mobile install) it will work alright.

You're going to have a lot of interaction between the antennas, particularly two HF antennas. Ground plane effect would be minimal at 2m/70cm frequencies.
Would recommend putting the 2m/70cm antenna up on the roof, and a single hamstick in a stake pocket mount. |

I could do a ham stick in one pocket and the dual band in the other. I had my dual band in the stake pocket before with good results.

Check this guy out. He makes all kinds of custom mounts. If he doesn't make one to fit your truck he will make it if you furnish dimensions. His cross bed mounts are grounded to the truck body so your antennas will have a ground plane. You can run any dual band and hf antenna you like.

How will the hamstick fair on the bar or stakepocket? I'll be using a Ft-857d Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile |
