One hint: Listen to the upper 10k and lower 10k. Or listen for the station to say, "10k up," which means that he's working the hams that are calling him there.

Keeping this antenna up even with the static crashes, I will have to pull it soon though.

Come on 10-20!

No luck with working these guys yet. I tried on 20m CW and Phone, but the QRM is terrible. I wish I could catch them on 40m CW, I think I have better luck on that band to the Middle East.

I've been trying 20m SSB and CW too, it's a zoo!

Malpelo was a blast for me and reasonably easy.

I think I'll be lucky to get one QSO with Yemen. Hopefully the traffic will slow down after all the big guns get their fill.

I couldn't find out how long they will be there on their website. Anybody know?

I tried the other day, the only thing I could hear was on 40m and 1 beacon on 10m. Other than that the bands were dead.

No luck thus far.

The Daily DX is reporting that the 7O6T Yemen DXpedition began at 2100 UTC Monday, April 30 and will continue through 2100 UTC May 15. Yemen currently sits at #5 on DX Magazine's most wanted list, behind North Korea, Navassa, Bouvet and Heard Island. The ARRL DXCC Desk will review the 7O6T DXpedition's documentation before granting approval for the operation to count for DXCC credit.

Apparently what I have read the DXCC credit may be in jeopardy since they have been instructed by the Yemen gov not to work any stations in 4x/4z. It will be interesting to see what happens.

For Virginia, it looks like your best bets would be 15m starting about 18:00 UTC or 17m starting about 20:00 UTC.

I worked 7O6T on 17m CW at 2359 Zulu. I worked him split about 1.5 khz above his TX frequency.

I used 500 watts into an ZS6BKW (inverted V) at 50 feet. Kenwood TS-590S and Elecraft KPA500.....and man it was tough going.

Lots of QRM and fierce competition to get him in the log.

You guys are killing me, but congrats!

They keep getting weaker here by the day, even with the new antenna I put up this weekend. (I'll post about the new antenna in the next day or so...)

Now another storm coming, so no chance to try them again tonight.

The competition is fierce as Yemen has not issued a license since 1990 due to security reasons. Its no wonder why they are #5 most wanted DXCC. I have tried every day since they first went on the air and have put in an average of three hours per day. It really was just the luck of the draw for me.

Piccolo, who is by nature obstinate, different and difficult, is going to try work him on the PRC 320 because he loves playing longshots.

So far all of the operating I have seen has been split. I did hear the operator on 20m ask for QRP stations the other evening, so if your rig does split Pic, you may be able to work them on your QRP rig.

If not, then I would try your IC-718.

FINALLY!!!!!!!

I was listening on 15 m SSB and 7O6T was ragchewing with someone, and then turned it over to another op because he had to go run 20 m CW. I tried to get in on 15 m SSB but they kept getting weaker so I switched to 20 m CW.

Within 10 minutes I worked the op I heard talking before on 20! They are great ops too. I don't know, but I guess they're running 30 WPM and when he called me back he slowed down and sent my call twice. I was sending less than 20 WPM on a straight key. That's the third DX that's slowed down to work me, a sure sign of a great op!

Now waiting for it to be uploaded and show in ClubLog...

Yeah, but when you succeed you really have some braggin' rights.
