$60 for a 2w HT.

Personally I won't be buying one. It's made in China. I have my reasons.

So, is that knob on top the VFO or is it like the 370 where you've only got what you program?

I have one, they are neat... I use mine as a beater/edc unit.
While I highly suggest programing software it is not needed, you can input or program frequencies "front panel" though with only a twist knob and few buttons it can be a pain.  The volume steps are not the best and the menus take some getting used to though there are not to many (18).
While the quality doesn't compare to big name brands I like it for what it is especaly when you consider its price.
