He's working his way up and down the 2-5 range, I'm trying to get out ahead of him a little ways but no luck so far. East coast stations are coming in OK here.

Got him on 17m, 18.146.
First time I've ever worked split. |

Same here. I just figured out the split function on my rig

LOL. That makse sense. I was playing with the new in-car HF setup, and all I heard was W1AW/? (can't remember now) on 20m. He was coming in STRONG, but I didn't hear any other stations.
Figures that he was running a split. I listened for like five minutes and didn't hear him say "Up 2.5" or even "working split". I just assumed the pile up was for some DX station. |

I tuned for a lark, I'm barely hearing "arfcom" on the peaks and I thought I heard phonetics for "romeo" but that's it, not enough to work, then someone just said QRZ.
Might get better later. |

There's lots more QRM now, I've caught one more "arfcom" but I think there's just no path, the "arfcoms" are all I'm hearing, not the CQs or the callsign.
I suspect 20M might work better right now, too. 40M might pick up in a couple hours. |

Just barely copied DirtNasty's call on 14331, but we couldn't have a QSO.
Anyone else? |

Hearing nothing. I did pick up Israel tonight, so that was a win
I also can just barely hear DirtNasty calling again on 20M. I bet he and I would do better on 40M. Alas, I must go QRT for a bit to walk the doggies... |
|
|
[#22]
I copied DirtNasty calling once, down in the noise. The thunder is almost constant here now so I'm
pulling cables and QRT. |

Maybe I hear a station calling back through the static, or maybe I'm going crazy?
I need to learn more about this radio. Thank you guys for trying. I really do appreciate it. |

I heard something, faintly.
Way too much noise. I gotta get this antenna outside, instead of my attic. |

Let me see if there is something on 40 better (can your antenna do 40?) How about 7.190? |

Not yet. Only have a single 20m leg on my attic dipole. The OCF is in construction and will be hung outside, hopefully soon.
My SWR is way too high on 40m With have to try again, when I get the OCF hung. Thanks for trying. Bahamas was on 14.260 if you want to try that. |
