It will do about 5-7 watts depending on the power supply. Runs from 12 VDC and does great with a SLA battery or even 8 C or D cell batteries. It has the built in electronic keyer so you can use paddles or a straight key. I'd like this to go to someone just getting started in ham radio; if you already have a shack full of gear please let this one go to someone who doesn't I'll take it if the offer still stands. I have nothing for CW, or anything HF for that matter. I would just like to call myself out- I have been derelict in my duties of sending off the package. The radio is in a box and ready to go, but it got packed up with all of my other stuff when I escaped CA to move to VA. When I get access to my stuff again I promise it will go in the mail. Sorry for the delay. |

Phurba, the important thing is that you are out of California.

Anybody know anybody that collects stamps. I've saved the stamps from those DX QSL card returns and they need to go to somebody. Shoot me a PM and I'll get it in the mail.

I've decided to start studying to get licensed. I do disaster relief and it seems like a good ability to have. If anyone has current study materials I would appreciate it.

I could use the Tech and General study guides, or perhaps a PDF link to something online.
I'm going thru the ones in the tacked thread right now and they are excellent for answering the bank of questions. I'd like to go deeper into the 'why' of things. Do the AARL guides do that? |

The ARRL Handbook for Radio Amateurs is basically the "radio bible". Everyone interested in radios should own one. They are printed every year, but all of the info is the same in regards to the fundamentals. They change it up every so often to keep up with current trends/modes so even old ones are still good for the fundamentals. The really old ones from the 40's and 50's are fun to look at and make you wonder how they didn't electrocute themselves back then. |
