So I'm looking for a hardshell case to hold two, 6'6" 2pc fishing rod/reel combos. One is a baitcasting; the other a spinning. I'm having trouble finding a quality case that doesn't require the reel to be removed from the rod. I don't mind spending money to get a good quality case.

I'm actually considering buying a Pelican 1720 case and using it to store the rod/reel combos. The one thing holding me back from the Pelican case is that I have no use for the wheels and they'll prob get jammed up with sand from the areas I fish.

Do I have any other good options?

Thanks!

Not really. Seems almost all of them are soft and made for break down rods.

Racks are the usual for vehicle/boat transportation and break down rods popular for having to walk long distances.

Well I've sort of given up on finding a decent hardshell case, but I've done a bit of research and this soft/hardshell case seems to be a good choice.

What do you guys think?

might be a tight fit but what about the longest Plano shotgun/rifle case you can find. I use a Plano take down shotty case for my ice fishing rods and they are very well protected.

Figure a 6'6 2 pc will be aprox 3'3 when apart you should beable to fit two rods/reels (staggered one reel one end and one the other).
