BIG UPDATE AT END OF NOTES AND COMMENTS, YES CONTAINS UPDATE!!!

GENERAL NOTE: time getting short.  Appreciate patience.  Last passes/editing/fixes/etc.

GENERAL NOTE: KIND OF IMPORTANT:

ARE THERE ANY AMAZON PRIME CUSTOMERS HERE??????  Here's why: pretty big deal--Amazon prime is not registering downloads

or pages read on many books/many authors.  Giant issue on writer's forums.  SO--

1. If there are any AMAZON PRIME customers here WHO HAVE ALREADY BORROWED "INJURED RESERVES"

---but HAVE NOT READ THE WHOLE THING--

--if possible could you read a few pages AND POST THE TIME/DATE/AND NUMBER OF PAGES READ HERE?  Also if you use

"page flip" on your browser/device.

2. If there are any PRIME MEMBERS HERE who were thinking about BORROWING and only BORROWING Injured Reserves,

could you do so, read a few/any pages, and return, AND POST TIME/DATE/PAGES READ here?  And if you use "page flip"

on your device.  There are authors who are losing/not having recorded tens and hundreds of thousands of pages read.

This is not a money issue for me now.  Injured makes about five dollars a month.

Comments, and then UPDATE:

--DFARM, much thanks and appreciate patience.  Considerably more on complexity Gehr Wahfen and etc. this update and

resolution of this stage/book of the Gehriverse.

--Mounger long time no see, very very pleased to see you still here.  Very very close to finished and then....on to the next one.

--zoe17, particular appreciation your patience.  Wish you read slower.  More on the way.

--Piddler, very relieved to see your message--your book/artifact not a hindrance, I look forward to it.  And I swear that

short of exogenous events this should be the first of many many years of stories in/attached to this world.  My goal

is to be able to write a book a year ( instead of....2.5 years ) for the rest of my life.

--mnmiv, much thanks, in the home stretch here.

--highstepper, much thanks, and "the Gehrs don't mess around..." Just wait, highstepper.  Just wait....

--PFunkk--still aiming for a handshake before the new year.  We shall see.  Scales tipping....everywhere.

--2T2/Crash--hard to express how grateful to see the early early adopters still here.  Just....just....thanks.

--greyguy, the Gehrs use....everything.  And everybody.  Hope I have a couple of twists on that theme.  One of them is

in this update.

--ny15 very much thanks and getting....close.

Hey DC, great update!  Noticed the airplane has/had a tale instead of a tail. Still here!

GENERAL NOTE: Getting close, as we can all tell. Any late arriving AMAZON PRIME members,

if you can borrow/return Injured Reserves, read/scan five pages, post time and page count,

would be very helpful.  Big problems with Amazon Kindle Unlimited program at this time.

GENERAL NOTE: Update will be posted shortly.  Should be two more, then pubbed.

--wingsnthings, good to see you, long time, tale/tail....uh...yeah. And just think, I've

been looking at that on edits for...a really long time.  Good eye, wings.

--kermit, run throughs, check lists, mock-ups, etc. yes and yes. In our generally ffffed universe,

the distance/non-awareness of most citizens of the required steps just to...saddle a horse, safely,

let alone dock a ship/fly a plane/clear a hut/pitch a tent/change a tire/boil water....well, you

know what I'm saying.  Just ffffff.

--zoe17, if I could reach your reading speed benchmark, I would be a zillionaire.  Getting close,

Z.

--Former11B, much thanks and it's been a long time coming.

--Currently, you/11b/others/early adopters....thanks.

--greyguy, and you too, long time long time.  Years from now, look forward to seeing how many

of us are still on this/associated threads--an issue for the future: individual threads for individual

stories in Gehriverse, or one thread?  Not sure yet.

--highstepper, you have no idea how many times I moved the Ferdinand intervention around in

that scene.  Had an expanded version, early, where Tim sees Ferdinand swoop in and spike

and thrash a burner, a big note on the "otherness" of Gehr Waffen, but I couldn't make it fit.

--PFunk, sleep, exactly.  Good to see you.

As always I loved it.

That last chapter was another of yours that paints a beautiful and vivid image in the minds eye of the reader in a way only you have written... and I've read a shitload of books in my relatively short 20 years of reading novels... once I hit my teen years I took to books like a crackhead takes to his rocks.

GENERAL NOTE: getting very very close.  UPDATE INCLUDED IN THIS POST. Comments on comments:

--2T2/Crash good to see you and much thanks.  You should begin to see all strands weave together right about now.  Almost done.  Can't believe it.

--Designated/M very good to see you, long time long time.

--KOW, and same, very happy to see any poster I recognize.

--GreenGiant early adapter, book almost here.  Next post I should have a date,

plus/minus 7 days.

--DFarm good to see you, more soon.

--StimpsonJ much appreciated.  Trying very hard to introduce sense of "scale"

here--without jumping the shark.  Gehriverse a tree with many branches.  This

is only one.  And libraries are 'real'--for at least awhile.

--mnmiv, if you can manage, not a trivial issue: would be very helpful if

you would "borrow"--read 10-20 pages, return, and POST EXACT TIME

AND HOW MANY PAGES YOU READ.  Huge huge scandal on all writer's boards--

Amazon appears to have massive code/algorithm issue with 'borrows.'

--LT/Beaker, avatar kills me.  Same same mnmiv--I need a time/page count

on borrows.  Right now very large percentage authors are showing 1-5 percent

of projected page borrows, Amazon is "not forthcoming" on cause.  Disaster

on many fronts.

I found this one editorial error.

"I am.[ Why are covered with slime?”]

(Maybe. Why are you covered in slime)

"Don’t get any ideas, Brian. KY jelly. Some additives. Good flame suppressant. Spark killer. And there’s nothing like a shiny nude girl, all peaky and bright, to flash-bang the ever simple minds of men. You should have seen their faces before they got cored. I could have kept them there for hours, just by squirming around a little, acting all weepy and sad. It’s worked since the beginning of time. And always will.”

'peaky' supposed to be 'perky'?

Comments on comments follow below--

GENERAL NOTE: getting...very. Very. Close. (!!!) Most likely ONLY ONE

MORE UPDATE before publication. Further updates 'almost impossible' without

revealing severe spoilers...there are a few in these last two updates if you

read closely (even not that closely).

GENERAL NOTE: all caveats apply (no full control time here ) but I am aiming

for THE VERY END THIS MONTH/VERY BEGINNING NEXT MONTH. And I will truly
deserve to burn below if I screw this up. But it is certainly possible.

GENERAL NOTE: the first price will be 5.99, many reasons here, some elaborated:

must distinguish from 200-250 page 'fast fiction'--very concerned about
'drive-by' reviews (this story/style very far outside normative
prepper/etc.'--

I very much want to discriminate in favor of 'very deliberate/not
impulsive' readers, at least in the beginning, Amazon ranking
method/etc.--

GENERAL NOTE: I will be announcing the date of a VERY BRIEF 2.99 board

promo price on this forum. I will try to stage it on a 1. Weekday 2. At night,

if possible. In other words, I would like everyone here to see it. And no one

else. I very very much want to avoid the common habit/requirement of price

pulsing/jacking price around which is the most common method of adjusting

rank/visibility on Amazon, etc. etc. etc. Long subject, nuff said I'm sure.

GENERAL NOTE: VERY IMPORTANT--the most likely, if any, delay will be
because AMAZON IS NOT REGISTERING PAGE READS IN PRIME/BORROWS for

many many authors. This is an immense scandal on writer's forums, beyond
the scope of readers here. Briefly--Amazon is stone-walling while
they try

to kluge a solution, and careers of many years are being destroyed.
Crossed fingers on this. I would very much like to have this available
to Prime/KUnlimited borrowers, but that would be impossible now.
COMMENTS FOLLOW BELOW--

--Designated/M much thanks and will be trying very seriously to make your referenced quote(s) as well

known as possible for many years.  Getting real close, D.

--zoe17 very good to see you and patience appreciated--no....time does not fly, does it.  And never when

standing in line peering over a counter.

--DFarm I hope you do read this book in one sitting.  It was designed to be read "quickly"--this experience

being the exact opposite, I am very concerned that way too many bright minds have anticipated my....twists,

of which there will be many, a few I hope still unanticipated.  NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!!!!

--Trapshooter12 Stimpson/J prompts accurately on name characters--will have a long post, after publication,

on possible directions/stories in the Gehriverse--critically, actual events ( many happening now ) will affect

these stories--I anticipate having to wait a few years to get back to these specific characters, for instance--

the next stories are planned as Gehr Family "Contacts"/recruits--perfect example, see Stimpson/J on Binary, below--

--StimpsonJ, much thanks for the detailed read and quote--this was intended to be read in this manner, and in

fact fails badly if it is not--"No Controlling...." I have a story there--maybe someday.  "Perky/Peaky"--a tone

touch/no perfect answer--Maria would use peaky--understanding anticipating her audience she might use

"perky"--speaking to Brian, who she has high hopes for, she would use peaky.  No write answer, just tone.

--"Maybe Satan drives a blue truck and works for the Cartel."--This story is not over yet.

--and most excellent on Binary--she is peddling up the Gehr Waffen access road this very minute.  Now, on

future stories and the Gehriverse, does anyone remember ( very long ago )--
"About a year ago,” Binary
mused while she stared into space.
Remembering. "Two guys came down, from somewhere north.  Fit.
Super fit.

And
I know fit.  The big guy was maybe the
strongest man I’ve ever seen.  Like a
mountain gorilla.  A silverback.  They were military, a cop friend of mine knew
them, and said they were Ok.  Nicest guys
you’d ever meet.  Real quiet.  They came down, they said, because they’d
heard some of the sisters here, were training to protect themselves, and they
thought they might teach some classes.
Guns, self-defense, stuff like that.
They liked these revolvers.  This
is an old school Smith and Wesson.
Called "The Bodyguard” and yes it is.

--Ok, this was Michael Gehr and Gretzky, The Orangutan, who will be the center of the next story.  IN other words, Gehr Waffen already knows who Binary is.

Talent is where you find it.  And never stop looking.

--Good to see you, Stimpson/j.

GENERAL NOTE: much thanks to those of you who find search phrase:

Not posting often but checking in daily.  Wrapping up quite a few projects this month.  Doing the best I can (within limitations) to expand the library and help others begin theirs.  Had the opportunity to hire two people at work....the Air Force tech sgt started last week, the Marine cpl will probably get the call today.

Going way back to the early part of the thread/story.....in the original opening sequence it was mentioned that Pop Gehr made the front sight for the Norinco 1911 on a benchtop lathe.  Several people commented that it should have been a mill and not a lathe.  The Unimat benchtop lathe that I picked up two weeks ago includes the pieces necessary to convert it from a lathe to a mill and to a surface grinder.       Tools to make tools.

DC - If you can do a quick $2.99 sale price promotion it would stand to reason that you could also do a quick higher price than $5.99 promotion too.  I suspect that you would have at least as many takers for that promotion as for the discount.  Just sayin'...

GENERAL NOTE:  comments on comments below, on track, but---

Very major problems at Amazon. If anyone interested can provide links.
The Kindle Unlimited/borrow service, approx. 50 percent of "visibility"
is fundamentally broken. Big scandal, blah blah blah. Problem: once
enlisted KU, cannot "un-enlist"--I could go on for days--

If I publish before this is fixed, my chance of "eyes on" from a general audience is decreased by 50 percent.

ANOTHER ISSUE: most interesting, this story originally conceived in era
of peak corruption, with no respite anywhere on any horizon. That may be
changing ( let us hope ) so I am modifying/creating different version
same story, with "different future events"--Gehr Waffen

would be an ally of "possible change happening now"--complicated:

I think we all know what is going on out there. This really is a last
chance. If you have the time, take a look at some of the P-d--ta
links/lks/emails. You can actually look inside the beast. Deep deep deep
in those emails, has only been noted by a blog or two, you can see an
actual "boss"--someone much more powerful than POTUS, Hellary, etc. He
named the ingredients for a piece of furniture. NO NAMES HERE, PLEASE.
Beautiful creepy stuff.  Consider the names associated with the M.Riiich pardon, and their place today.  This is The Octopus.  The Deeep

Staaate.  More .re PFunkk comment below.

No Proper Names, Please. Thank you.

--PFunkk yes strange times indeed.  I don't suppose anyone here is particularly surprised, and possibly me least of all.

If our agent of change prevails, in the second version of this story I am prepping now, all events stay the same, but

in the background our agent of change would have to be seriously "compromised/sabotaged"--this is a severe disadvantage

of composing a story with a 'real life' back-drop, as opposed to zombie/plague/EMP acts of god.  Not a problem, just

some additional work.  Story version 2 is being modified at this time.  I will know which one to publish in a few weeks....

--Kermit good to see you and very cool on your social engineering/hiring.  On mill/lathe the wise men here noted at some

point, and has been changed/fixed, good eye Kermit.

--BigDam much thanks on price and we shall see what/how/when I should price this thing.  As mentioned has much to

do with visibility and quality of readers/reviews, not just income.  I really don't have an answer here.

--zoe17 much thanks as well--

--and Currently, understood, if I could I would price like Swedish speeding tickets, but voluntary--maybe on blog

will have a button for "The DCBourone Browning Automatic Rifle And Mischevous Mayhem Fund"--for donations from

like minded billionaires--oops, we know who they are contributing to....not us.

--KOW, highstepper, I see I am repeating myself, but...Ok, done.

--greyguy, understood, see Swedish speeding tickets, pro-rated by income no less, and very very much appreciate

votes of confidence, but, a SMALL GENERAL NOTE: I need to make "enough"--the constant savage whipsawing to

fraction every fucking last penny from everyone for everything, this is a "tone" issue, I am a capitalist, but capitalism

absent morality is a lot of what we see now, a morphing oligarchic monopolism and legislative/legal control

fraud, and on and on and on.  I just need to make enough.  ( Although the Browning Automatic Rifle Festival and

Barbecue does attract...severely....if I donated a few barrels to burn out, would that be, like, food stamps for

constitutionalists? )

Ok back to work.

update, AND WILL POST "THE LINK" HERE.  Aiming for the 10th or 15th this month, see below.

GENERAL NOTE: The last update WILL LOOK LIKE A HOOK/TEASER.  It is not.  Which is kind of a severe

spoiler, in itself.  ALL QUESTIONS/ISSUES/CONFLICTS will be resolved in this book/story--

Although other questions/issues/conflicts will be set up, for the next/stories/series/characters.

GENERAL NOTE: So I am aiming for a day or two post election, if Amazon fixes Kindle Unlimited.

Do not have a cover artist I like.

May use block text/same same Injured Reserves, and put in cover later.

GENERAL NOTE: The Amazon Kindle Unlimited borrow "problem" is huge, and a big cause of

continued delay.  BORROW PAGES ARE NOT BEING CREDITED TO MANY AUTHORS.  AT ALL.

This has been multiply proved by many authors on many forums, and Amazon is stone-walling.

No Kindle Unlimited means no visibility.  Using Kindle Unlimited means Amazon profits from page

reads, author gets zero credit.  For instance, according to Amazon, 95 PERCENT OF INJURED

RESERVES READERS HAVE ONLY READ 1-4 pages, etc. etc. etc.

GENERAL NOTE: If Amazon does not fix/resolve, I will publish on/around THE 15TH OF THIS MONTH,

but not in Kindle Unlimited.  This pisses me the fuck off, because I suspect many here are KU/Prime

users, and therefore would be much much cheaper/"essentially free" to borrow, rather than buy.

And if page reads paid, this story would do very well in KU, because it is a very long story....

And not publishing in Kindle Unlimited will cut visibility/list placement IN HALF, because a borrow

counts as a "sale" for ranking.

GENERAL NOTE: most important election etc. etc. etc.....Except this one is.  Everyone knows what

to do.  The Outsider could buy us another ten years.  Maybe more.  If he wins, you will see some

minor 'tone' changes in Version Two Soldier's Son, which has been assembled over the last month.

Ok, back to work.

Yay! Christmas is coming AND I get to finally sit and re-re-read Soldier's Son real, real soon.  I will be purchasing it on Amazon and flipping it over to my Nook since that is my preferred e-reader.  I really like the e-Ink readers as they are so easy on the eyes!  Just pop up the link and we will have at it!

Thanks DCB for sweating and toiling over the Word Forge, Automatic Comma Hammer, and now the Period Microscope.  PLEASE resist the urge to purchase an STM to get atomic precision of wording, some of us would stroke out during the wait!
